The new Audi S5 Coupe is amazing...Styling is breathtaking...Just saw one one the road near the VW office in Auburn Hills, MI and WOW it's got great body curves - that commanding new Audi grille and this led looking stripe of lights that stay lit along the bottom of the headlight casing even in the daytime. It looks borderline exotic and looks just as good as any generation of M3. It's got a 6spd V-8 with about 354 HP. Only thing is this beast STARTS at 50k so I assume well equipped will be about 58-60k easily.

Don't know if it's a track star per se but it sure is a daily driven beast with the luxury to match. Definitely would choose it over the BMW 335i but probably would still choose M3 over it.

Not sure how we went from you wanting a "Sports car" with a fun factor to a track car!

The G is still plenty fast and the handling is better than most drivers will be able to push "the limits of ther mind". Obviously, more performance mods are coming that will make it a better handling car and faster if you are really keen on getting it to the track, but for the legal road work it is a great performer.

Track and street are huge differences when speaking of performance. Personally, I am way too hard on cars at the track and I could easily end up in the armco with a modded G37. That would not be good for me...

If you are able to find a dealership to give you a decent MSRP and not too big of a mark-up, I would say totally go for the GT-R. That thing is going to be wicked sick!

the G has never been "pure sports car"

u'll be happier with a C6

Right now i am thinking:

- Cayman
- 996 C2
- 350z Roadster
- NSX
- C6 Corvette
- Viper

dude

I thought you were looking at a Vette or NSX (at least that is what you posted on the 6)

Why don't you just save your pennies and step up to the plate and get a 996TT.

Sell you Cayenne and get a real P-Car.

Don't get the Cayman -- that's a chick car

If you are looking for performance, the G37 will not fit your bill.

no doubt when you mod the car it will be nice. especially with some added chassis braces and suspension bushing's will do a lot to help the base. the problem is if you do the same stuff to both cars the S2k is still going to blow the G away because you are starting with a better base plateform. so bascially you will have to put more money into the G to make it even. But my opinion of this is based solely on an all around track/performance car. I am not into drag racing and straight line speed. So ya on pure motor hp the g is better.

Do i know you?

Anyhow, thanks for your "Direct" post. But here is why you are wrong in basically every area.

First off, i could go get a 996TT right now if i wanted...i just have other things id rather do first (aside from cars) and would prefer my first Turbo to be a NICE one aka prally 100k + car.

As for my Cayenne, i like it very much for my daily and think it is a "real" P-Car despite what you think...and its also my Fav SUV out there.

You also show your ignorrance by calling the Cayman a chick car as it certainly isnt at all. In fact, if you have ever driven one youd know that they are fantastic drivers and make great track cars as well.

The Z06 v NSX agrument is still here...i like both cars very much, but i also LOVE Infiniti's (i have owned 2) so i thought id give it a look.

Thanks for posting though - see ya out there

I say go for the GT-R....It's luxurious interior is better then anything Chevy will have on their corvettes till 2020! Plus it's 997 Turbo Performance for z06 money..I say it's the best deal ever! I recommend being patient and sticking with the cayenne until the GT-R coems out..you will not be disappointed...

theirs two different type of speed.. like gtr all out speed or like fun to drive nice and quickk prob beat 3/4 of the cars on the road..

g37s as stated above is a blast to drive.. "best car for your buck".. i would get it if ur comparing it to something like a 335, but then agian the 335i is quicker just not an overall better car IMO.

if ur ganna go crazy for speed u shouldent be looking at a g37s which is about 40k-45k loaded..

u should be looking at 55-70k range is-f bmw m3- mb c 63- GTR!!!

I hear ya man. I will try my best to be patient...however, these GTR's are going to be harder to get than everyone thinks...so well see about that.

As for the Cayenne - i am not planning on getting rid of it - its the Honda that im selling for this car

no you are so far wrong its not even funny. i dont care how great of a negotiator you are. you cant hagle on a car that is not aval. pretty much every dealer has pre sold the cars. the ones that are not presold are going to sell for well over 100k after mark ups. they are not going to drop for a long long time. its goin gto be just like the corvette ZO6. just because the sticker was 67 you could not get them for the first 8 months for under 100k...

I think he was trying to be optimistic cant blame him....

But i fear you are on the right track with your comparision to the Z06 (and other cars like this). I would pay a LITTLE over...but not more than 10 grand. That is just wasteful in my mind.

so what is the OP's price range?

if you're going to go for a Cayman..get the "S"

NSX (3.2), Viper, C6 are great too...

you want a really fun car to take to the track...EVO. ugly as sH*t but does that thing move like it owns the corners and a circuit track....i'd even go as far as saying i liked it better than an E46 M3, S2000, 350Z, and even 996 C2s....but only as far as taking it to a good circuit track like streets of willow
