third pic is the antenna for the RFID.
The question is, does the RFID need to powered? Is the watch battery for the keyless entry and panic buttons or powers the entire thing including the RFID chip.

Generally, an RFID tag doesn't need a power source, it's the reader that uses power.

EDIT: Sorry was thinking of the passive type. Active and semi-passive may actually use a power source.

I will play around with it. I'll be out of town till Sunday, so don't expect anything before then.

I am gonna assume it needs some type of power. I'd also assume that there is some type of rolling code that comes along with the RFID which is processed through that microcontroller.

I'm 99% sure you need that battery lol

Can you just take the disassembled fob ( RFID part without the battery ) out to the car and see if it will unlock, etc?

You took one apart? Those things go for around $50 on ebay ... plus there is a dealer charge to pair them to your car. You could have made yourself a good chunk of money on it!

I'll do it this weekend if nobody gets to it first.

Taking it apart is pretty easy... you just pop out the key underneath and stick a small flat head in the back and twist it... it'll pop up little bit and then you can work around the rest of the fob. shouldn't take more than a minute to get the whole thing open.

*note: I didn't test the key after I put it back together, so I don't know if this will erase the RAM and disable your fob. I don't see why it would, but just letting you guys know.

Terry, make money off of what? I'm confused lol
