I have an 06 G35 with 31k miles never had one problem. this is the most reliable car I owned. I had a IS300 and is needed an fan belt at 40k miles. I havent even needed a brake change yet either. But Im not on of those people that step on the gas at every light then stop quickly.

fiance and i just went to Trader Joes. as we parked, a doctor in an MDX parked next to us, hopped out, and said, "how are you liking it? my buddy has a 35 and was talking about this one, it sure looks nice."

I dirive my car in a sporting fashion often and I have not had one problem out of my engine or tranny. No oil consumption problems at all and I have 49K miles.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the way that the car was broken int(?) I grannied my car for the first 1500 miles and changed all of the fluids at 1200 miles.

We're all crossing our fingers it is not gonna show up in this generation.

Here is a link for the G35 coupe you may want to check out.

I didn't really follow the Infiniti break in advice. I drove mine quite hard from early on with some full throttle and redline runs in one or two gears after only a hundred miles or so. I changed the oil at 1800 miles and again at 3000 miles. The tranny, diff fluids were changed at 4k. It doesn't use a drop of oil and has about 17K miles on it.

I'm glad to hear that the problem seemed to be pretty specific to certain years and manual trans versus auto (I wonder why that is?). Anyway, the last time I owned ANY car with an oil consumption problem was back in the 1960s and 1970s when American cars needed oil added almost every other visit to the gas station!

Just because a few of you don't have problems doesn't mean they don't exists. For every 1 person complaining about oil consumption, there are probably 10 others who aren't on this forum having it.

The oil consumption issues are only evident on 05+ 6mt with the rev-up motor.

Not only that, my rear axle bolt was loose causing a bunch of popping and cracking noises.

^^I think it's just the opposite. People posting on here usually are enthusiasts or are researching a problem with their car.

Most 1st generation models come out with defects and re-calls. As the years go by the end up tweaking and "perfecting" the model itself. Example.. 03-04 G35 & 05-07. Its a completly different drive especially if u have the 6mt. IF I do by the 37, imma wait till they get all the bugs out. I Still love my G35 and the looks it still gets

lets try to keep this thread on topic! tks john

back to the topic at hand.....

So as paintful as it is i have to park my new g37 at my office parking lot. Mostly all business professionals within the technology industry. From my office window i can see the lot but not my car.. a short walk around the corner offers up floor to ceiling windows looking out over the lot with a clear shot of where i parked my G.

So i'm sitting there working away yesterday and a buddy of mine says hey john.. check out this guy.. hes been looking at your car for a about five minutes now. I walk over and sure enough he's walking around my car.. over and over. By then about four more guys in the dev group are over there and we're watching this guy get on his knees.. peering into the tires.. checking out the brakes and such. He gets up.... cups his hands around his face as he looks through my windows. We're all looking out from the second floor about fourty feet from this guy.. about six of us now.

By now he's been checking out my car for about fifteen minutes.. very creepy. I've done the same before.. AT THE DEALERSHIP.. but never around someone elses car. anyway.. it was quite the show.

Wow. I'd never look around / peer into someones car for more than a minute or two. Fifteen is just ridiculous.
