Personally, I could care less about the review. The only data I am looking forward to is the 0-60 and 1/4mile. And no thanks to their subjective review.
I doubt that C&D will put the Infiniti G37 over the 335i Coupe. There has been no vehicle that I know of where it surpassed any BMW 3-series. I'd be very surprised and also very happy for Infiniti if the G37 did surpass the 335i Coupe. If the G37 gets 2nd place behind the 335i Coupe... I don't care because I know that I'm driving a better looking vehicle (the interior of the 335i is hideous). It's not like I'm actually going to drag race or put the vehicle to its limits considering that for one.... I'm 17 and for two.... I'm definitely not that experienced of a driver and nor do I care to become that great of a driver.

^^ Actually, the '03 won COY, so they did judge it over the BMW. May be I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but overall I don't think those mags are necessary pro BMW without reasons... After all, BMW makes good driving cars.

I am excited to see the review on the 25th.

It's obvious that Infiniti just doesn't want to let the perverbial CAT-OUT-OF-THE-BAG that this new G is knocking down 365 HP at the flywheel.....

You know what...I'm sure that the 335i will come out on top. However, mechanically the new G coupe will be so close that to the consumer, it really will come down to exterior/interior design and price. The G37 may not stir the soul like the G35 but, imo, it can't be as boring as the 335i coupe. I pick the G37 as a hot seller whether or not it beats the 335i in comparison tests.

Here's another example: if the G engine outright outpulls the 3 turbo, they say the 3's engine is smoother, sounds more "melodic", more low end torque therefore more practical in everyday driving .... blah blah blah ...

Low end torque is nice but I go with top high rpm hp NA over low end torque turrbo anyday.

I more interested in tested performance. Looks are subjective as is driving feel.

Prediciton:

All that being said, I think the 335 will still come on top. They'll site better steering feel, road manners, acceleration, and.....drum roll....refinement. Those pesky inline 6's.

"overall, great attempt by Infiniti. They are the closest to the reigning champ, but still not there yet."

Oh wow, this guy can see the future.

I am pretty sure this is exactly how it's going to turn out as well. At the end of the review they'll say the G37 is the best Japanese contender against the BMW, but it lacks refinement, and precision handling blah blah blah. Overall they will say the BMW is worth the extra $8000 or whatever the extra $$$ is for the logo, then proceed to say if you are a poor bastard who can't afford finer things in life, then an Infiniti would be good enough for you.

You have it the reviews right on the head. I am just hoping the ride/drive is not harsh. Roads here are the worst.

The COY award is not for the "best car of the year". First, it has to be a new model. So, if the BMW E46 wasn't new that year, it wasn't even in the running. Second, it has to break some kind of mold or be a "special" car. The best car of the bunch doesn't win if it hasn't tried to so something new or different.

Do we really think the Camry was the best car last year? Do you think the Dodge caravan was the best car back in something like 1984? I think the Camry is about number 1,500 on my list of cars I'd want - just above the dodge caravan.

A big reason they have a date is to make sure all the car mags and others have time to review so no one gets the "first" review out. It makes it fair for everyone, and they can all release their stuff around the same time, unless of course someone works out a deal with Infiniti to get an exclusive for a period of time.

Ahh... I never thought of that. That seems reasonable. I also asked this to my salesman at Infiniti of Riverside today and he said that he's not sure why Infiniti would say June 25th either. He believes that Infiniti at that date will release some official information about the coupe. I hope so!
