I did some searching, but did not find this in the existing threads. In general, my 2013 G37 convertible top is working well. However, I noticed today that when the top is fully closed, the "parcel shelf" behind the rear seat does not seem to return to a full and proper position when closed. There is a small gap of approximately 1/2 inch between the parcel shelf and the frame at the bottom of the rear window, and where the parcel shelf meets the rear seat, that seems a little "off". I'm attaching some pictures to provide some visual of what it looks like. The pics taken from inside the trunk show the gap, and then I just pushed it up to close the gap manually.
I checked the screws holding the shelf, and those seem fine.
Is this just wear and tear that happens with a 13 year old convertible top, or is this an adjustment that could/should be made by the dealer in re-setting the finished position of the parcel shelf when in the "closed" position?
By the way, after finding a related article about resetting the top mechanism, I did unhook the battery and go through that process, both with the top starting in the open position, and then again in the closed position, each time unplugging the battery for the reset. That didn't resolve what I believe is an issue of the parcel shelf returning to a proper position when closed.
I will say, the process of unplugging the battery did save me from a likely dead battery situation, because I came to find the battery was 5 1/2 years old. So I went ahead an installed a new battery. 👍
my 2012 has. always been similar for what its worth
@gsqrd Hi Gsqrd, thanks very much for confirming your parcel shelf has a similar finish position, and hasn't been an issue for you. As long as it's not the first step toward an expensive repair job by the dealer. 👍
When I went to look at mine, I found that the interior molding on the lower part of the windshield, the beige trim just above the package shelf, is cracked. It’s the part that’s quite clearly seen in the first picture. Does anyone know the correct name of that trim or, better yet, the part number? I can’t make heads or tails of the parts catalog line drawings.
