G37 Convertible Weight Reduction
G37 Convertible Weight Reduction
Hi! I just bought my first G and I’m looking into weight reduction tips if any! I haven’t been able to find anything at all and it seems like no one has attempted of bothered to try and I don’t know where to start!
im currently trying to figure out how to remove the backseats if possible or how to possibly remove or replace the convertible system with a permanent top

Why would you buy a convertible then? Convertible versions of any car are generally always heavier than the non convertible counterparts. Your best move would be to sell it and buy a Z.
Why in hell would you buy a convertible in the first place then? A Coupe, maybe.
Even if you gutted all the electrics and hydraulics for the roof- or "replaced with a permanent one" the structural integrity would be compromised. To save a few hundred pounds? Not worth it.
Sell it. Get a Z. It will cheaper and easier across the board.

A prominet roll bar and a carbon fiber detachable hardtop would be awesome !
A lot of the weight of a convertable G37 is the extra bracing and those "airbag charge" integral roll bar front seats.
but I wouldn't recommend removing any bracing!
Or swapping in lighter seats without a roll bar or roll cage to keep you alive. And then it's not really a street machine any more, if.you gotta have a harness and helmet, is it?
Unless you do it in a very specific street friendly way.
Your best bet is forced induction or NOS. Maybe even an engine swap.
Power to weight improvements by adding power.
Otherwise, all the normal stuff applies.
Rims, tires, suspension, etc
