Hi everybody. New to the forum.
I live in France and I bought, three years ago a splendid 2015 Q60 convertible grey with red leather. It was 50km and reach now 90km.
You need to know that there are less than 50 cars (even less than 20 I believe) like this one in France. It will help you to understand why it is almost impossible to find somebody qualified on it.
While the roof operated well during two years, it started to block sometimes. Nothing very bad... The parcel was almost vertical (85°) but did not reach the needed final vertical position for the roof to pass behind. See this picture :
I pull it few times and then the rest of the roof was operating well until last march...
This time, the parcel blocked and just after I pull the parcel, the roof run for few seconds and everything was blocked.
The roof was open, the trunk also. And the two flippers totally opened... It was more or less like that (not my picture, I stole it on the forum, thank you)
I have been able to get the flippers going back to their place by switching on/off the car and press the roof close button at least 20 times.
Fortunately, I was close to a very nice former Nissan automotive sealer. He spent some time on it and gave me the car back with the roof and trunk closed BUT the parcel was locked vertically in the trunk. It was not possible to open the trunk. It seemed to me that the glass was pushing the parcel...
The guy made this for free so I shut my mouth and I was at least able to drive back home
Three weeks later, I had a rendez vous with the only guy in the whole department (60 km) who take care of Infiniti. He kept the car for four weeks and call me finally to say that he found the problem. For him, this is the broken part.
And the price to repair would be minimum of 3,5k$. He told me that the whole part 79910Y must be replaced :
And he told me also that he can not give me a delay because the part is not any more available. He told me that he will not accept to install a spare part which I would find because it is not new and he told me that he does not give any warranty about the result after the replacement...
You remember that I told you the trunk was closed by the first guy ? Maybe he damaged this part.... ? In this case, then the problem comes from somewhere else. Who knows !?
I am not hot to waste 3,5 k$ without any certainty
Anyway, I searched on ebay and obviously, many complete parts are available on second hand market in US, but as this is HUGE it is problematic to ship such big parts in Europe.
So my reflexion right now would be to try to disassemble the broken part and see if I can get a similar part made locally. But I am afraid of being stuck and that's the reason why I would like some advice.
Two things more :
I do not have a place to park the car in order to be protected from the rain or dust.
I do not have Nissan Consult software but I seriously consider finding one.
I searched the forum to learn about how it is mounted and I was considering removing first the parcel (6 screws according) like this (again, not my pictures, thank you)
I will start to disassemble the parcel while the roof is closed. So, is there something to know like if there any spring which will damage something ?
Then, I was considering disassembling according to the picture below.
Thank you Guy for your answer. If you don't mind, I'll keep this thread in English as it will increase the amount of possibles answers.
Let's be clear, it is impossible to weld directly the part in place. And removing the entire part seems too big. I have few hours today, I"ll try to remove it and let you know
Did you download the "RF" section of the factory manual? It shows detailed instructions on each component of that roof and how to inspect, adjust, disassemble, and maintain all of the individual components of that roof orchestra.
Seems to me that if one piece is "hitting" another during operation then a simple adjustment, or even a loose bolt, might be the cause.
