Thanks so much. That will be a purchase that will give us great piece of mind on the road by not fearing to use the top. And we always carry a laptop anyway.
Happy motoring and enjoy the summer!
The package I bought came with a disk drive. I just threw it into an old toughbook I had. I was able to diagnose the top within an hour. It has been the best thing I've got for this car.
I ended up doing the same, but when I hooked it up to the OBDII port the Consult software isn't recognizing my car either through VIN lookup or searching by name. The version is 75.20 and it has later model years available, so I feel like I'm missing configuration files or something. Any ideas on things to try or guides to using Consult?
Thanks!

I never used the vin lookup. I just select g37 and the model year. I don't know if it will just pop open your car based on vin.
Well, turns out I'm just not that bright and the country location was set to Japan instead of United States. Everything popped right up after I fixed the system configuration and I'm now dangerous with sensor management!
Glad to hear it's working for you. I've had the trunk open issue the last couple of days so it's time to get the unit out and diagnose the root cause.
Good luck. Since getting the kit working I’ve had the top up and down at least four times with no trouble, naturally. I did notice the battery voltage seemed a bit low, so broke out the multimeter after a long drive and found the resting voltage on my six month old Diehard Platinum 24F battery is 12.1V. Oh, I called it all sorts of names.
The battery seems to be one of the major culprits for top issues.
I've been testing mine monthly and although it's been steady, it doesn't hold charge like it used to so I'm eyeing a new 24F as well.
Let us know what you end up with.
I was looking at drycell ones like optima, but I'd have to go with a 35.
I have not had good luck with the Optima batteries. I went with it on my last track car as you could mount it in any orientation. But it didn't have a long life. I think I would stick with a good brand AGM or wet cell battery. I'm currently running interstates in my boat for the 2 starters and big deep cycle Advance Auto for the trolling batteries. The golf cart has Trojans. I think the most important thing is maintenance. Keep the terminals clean and if they're wet cells then check the water regularly.

I had heat kill an Optima prematurely on a long road trip, on a red top when I should’ve been using a yellow top, but other than that I’ve had good luck with them.
I figured I’ll see if I can find an Interstate AGM locally, then if I need to make a call on a second option depending on what’s available.
So I just bought the Consult III Plus device and software from China for my top that froze during a cycle when the battery died. Did you use your Consult software to fix your issue or just diagnose? Pretty sure my top needs a reset / relearn. Wondering if you have reset instructions?
I suggest you get the online service manual as it has all of the instructions necessary. I can print them out for you later today but I'm swamped with work at this time.
I would really appreciate that. The car has been sitting in the garage for 2 months and I'm hoping this will work. Not much out there showing how to reset the top..... Thanks!
