convertible rattle

I have now a 2011 g37 convertible. Absolutely love it. It is the Monaco model with the red leather that i am told is unique. My question is, the rattle from the back when the top is up is the only negative. Has anyone had this and is it fixable or is it just normal for a 10 year old model. Dealer didn't sound encouraging. Thanks

have the same rattle on my 2010 g vert and had the same rattle on my 2015 q vert. It was something I have learned to live with. You can start tinkering with the top to try and tighten some loose pieces and mechanisms but wouldn’t advise it if you are not familiar with how the top works. I notice it gets really noisy when you’re going over 80mph but anything under is a tolerable rattle.

The dealer has no idea how these tops operate. I learned that first hand when they collapsed the hard top into itself when it jammed up while closing. Had the car in the shop for a month for them to ultimately change the whole top. I then made two other dealership visits with my 15 since it was a lease about the rattle. Had the tech drive with me to listen since they thought I was making things up. They tried tightening things up then ultimately stuffed something in between the headliner and the actual shell of the hard top. Didn’t stop the sound but did dampen it a bit.

sorry if this wasn’t much help but don’t trust the dealer to get this done because they didn’t know about these cars when it was in production and definitely don’t know now that they stopped making these things 5 years ago.

thanks, that's about what I thought. They don't seem to know or care too much.

only thing I could recommend and maybe doing what they did and stuffing some sound dampening material between the headliner and the top itself to keep things from rattling too much. Going to do the same myself too soon just haven’t gotten around to it.
