How much should my convertible top sink/drop when stopped partially open for maintenance?
I'd like to clean & lube the weatherstripping/linkages, but I'm afraid if the top sinks/drops too far it'll get stuck partially open.
(my G37 convertible is new to me, so any roof/top maintenance tips would be appreciated)

Did your roof drop/sink at all after you stopped it in the vertical position (while you were cleaning & Gummi Pfledging the seals)?
About how long was your roof in the vertical position?

 

OK, so I just tried to stop my roof in the vertical position two separate times:
- The first time, the roof dropped about 5-6 inches in a couple minutes, so I opened it all the way to avoid damage.
- The second time, I didn't open it quite as far and the roof held solid and didn't drop at all for 15 minutes while I cleaned and lubed the seals.
It seems there's a "sweet spot" to stop the roof and hold it partially open without it moving...
Is this normal, or do I have a weak/failing hydraulic pump?

 

I think that is pretty normal. I recall reading a service page that warned the mechanic to avoid letting the drop when stopped or it would require re initializing.
