- The install is permanent once you decide to do it. There's adhesive strips for weather sealing that you'll have a heck of a time replacing if the spoiler comes back off, not to mention the residue that will be left stuck to the trunk. You can test-fit it all you want, but once you peel the sticky weather strips, it's going to STAY on the car. Make your decision about paint/not paint before you commit. It's way cheaper and easier to paint the spoiler off the car.
The double-sided adhesive can be removed albeit not easily.

The install is certainly permanent because it requires 2 holes to be drilled into the top of the trunk lid. These holes are used to allow for a bolt to pass through the trunk lid to secure the outer corners of the spoiler to the top of the trunk lid via fasteners in the underside of the lid. Although not in in the installation instructions, be sure to use a silicone sealant around these 2 holes to ensure a watertight fit and inhibit any kind of potential rust. As for the 2 additional holes that may need to be drilled in the face of the trunk to allow for the additional wiring harnesses for the back up camera and antenna, be sure to use a little paint or primer to the exposed bare metal to prevent rust. Neither of these crucial steps are included in the OEM instructions and should be followed to ensure a proper install.
Good luck!

Painted it yesterday and installed today, looks great. I decided to colorsand and buff with it on the car. My wife really likes it and wants me to put one on her 09 K23 liquid platinum coupe. What is the difference in the convertible decklid and the coupe decklids?
