^^ good find with the video, I'm really impressed on how good the winter tires performed compared to the all season, summer tires.

Well I just bought some general g-max all seasons to get me through this last month or so of this chicago winter. The reviews from many testers showed this tire is a top rated ride. And top on ice for a all season. Price was good too. We will see, calling for snow all week.

My vert did perfectly with snow tires on it. Even had fun with the supercharger. But I was in complete control. Tires make a world of difference.

I drove on them for the first time today. Hard to put into words without sounding like I made the greatest choice ever. I have to admit, they are a fantastic tire. Smooth and quiet, compaired to stocks. I showed a 2.3 mpg increase driving the same way I always have. I have read that generals/conti's hsve soft sidewalls. Not true at all. I have a sport, and they are very responsive. So I have 120 miles, and it was a eye opening ride! 910 bucks out the door, stock size, and chicago has about 10 inches of snow on the way tomorrow. More to comenon this highly reviewed tire. A big A+ so far, and im not easy to impress.

6-8" promised tomorrow night!! I've had the fortune of not having to drive in any snow yet this winter. Perhaps I'll go for a drive around the area just to make sure the snow tires still work ...

Well I am off tomorrow, but I too will take mine out to see if those G max's can do what other say they can do in snow and ice. If you look at close-up pics of the tread on tire sites, it looks like the tread is not too deep. It is actually does have a fairly deep tread......should channel well.

I'm very interested in how the General g-max all seasons perform when it's above 40F? I throw my g37 S around corners like a maniac, but was scared to death the first time I drove it in 1/2 inch of snow. It slid like a sled, little traction and lot's of drama. I have almost 22k miles on the original Bridgstones, and they are noisy, ride is a bit harsh, but they stick like glue above 40F. I like driving like a maniac around the corners (maybe I shouldn't admit that to a police officer), and I don't want to loose traction when I switch tires.

On a side note, I purchased Continental ExtremeContact ZR rates tires for my old 2001 Maxima SE, when the original Bridgestones went bald at 15K miles. The change was night and day and the car stopped, turned, was quite and smooth and generally handled like the sports sedan it was made to be. I know Continental owns General now, so I'm hoping for a similar experience when I need to change tires.

Driving like a maniac in the snow is a quick way to wrap the car around a tree or pole. Snow tires help you drive in the winter/snow, but you need to drive cautiously and with common sense. No tire short of studs and awd will let you whip around corners when there's snow on the ground.

I drive like a grandma in the snow, no worries. I just want to make sure I can still drive around corners like a maniac on all seasons in the spring/summer/fall on dry roads.

If you google G max reviews, you will see a test of these tires on 4 different cars. The claim that they "tried" to get them to break free in hot and wet conditions, and couldn't. I intend to put them through a little test of my own.....

I'm here in chitown waiting for the snow. My G conv is safe and sound in a garage in md. I'll bring it back up in May sometime.

In the meantime the tundra will have to do.

Well with 3-4 inches on the ground, I took her out before it gets really nasty. On the side streets with untouched snow, the tire ran great! But not even close to the way blizzaks feel in wet snow. Stopped well with little anti-lock kicking in, and took off from a stop with minimal slippage. In the semi-plowed slush, it was great! they cornered well in both the snow and slush. Threw one heck of a rooster tail out the back, and did great when manuvering left, right, left on the deep snow. With the great reviews of this tire on both dry and wet road surfaces, this appears to be a great year around tire. No fear taking these on the slushy, snow covers expressways of Chicagoland. General did well in these G-max's...
