Kick plates, tire pressure, trunk, rattleing
Hello,
I recently purchased 2010 Infiniti G 37 Conv and I have following questions/concerns:
1. I just noticed that the kick plates do not light up. Can anyone help/suggest as to whether I am suppose to be turning them on from somewhere or how I can make them work automatically.
2. I am in West Lafayette Indiana and the tire pressure light keeps coming on every other day. Do you think its because of the cold temperature?
3. Upon releasing the trunk, it does not lift automatically, and is very heavy to lift. Is that common or is there something wrong that I need to get it looked at?
4. Since the day the car arrived, I have been hearing rattling noise from the top area of the right back passenger side, is anyone else having similar issues? I plan on taking it in to an Infiniti dealer tomorrow, if someone can assist me in what exactly I should approach them with the issue will be great.
Thank you.
Rohan

1. This is an option you most likely don't have
2. I live in New Jersey and it's cold. I don't have the tire pressure light on. Take it to the dealer and have them check it.
3. That's normal, it takes some effort to open.
4. Had a few roof rattles when I picked up my 2010 G37 S, 6 weeks ago. The dealer fixed about 90% of the sounds. My fingers are crossed that they stay fixed!

Where in NJ? I am in Bergen County - my Vert is a winter garage queen...
Thanks for the reply,
I took it to a dealer in Greenwood, IN south of Indianapolis... (No dealer in Lafayette...) And this is what they said is wrong and some other issues that they want to address:
1. Replace O-rings for back passenger and back driver seat.
2. Alignment for both parts or the top so the trunk settles down uniformly while top is being opened or closed.
3. They ordered new shockers to address the trunk being too heavy issue.
In addition,
Now they are recommending 15,000 miles maintenance service (Car has 16,700). I do plan on getting that done but I am being quoted $580 for this which I think is little ridiculous. Any input?
They also recommended 2 part, throttle & intake and injector clean... and for this they are quoting $180. I talked to another dealer about this and they said I don't need this until around 30,000 miles. So I am now confused.. and wondering what they are really gonna do for $580 and $180.
Someone might suggest DIY, but I have never done anything like this before on any of my cars and work/school keeps me pretty occupied.
Suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated.

I just purchased a '08 MT from the local Infiniti dealer. The car has 68K miles and even though the car had been through the 100+ point inspection and they said it was fine. I began to look at some of the threads on this website and found that Infiniti has had problems with the clutch slave unit. So I decided to take a look at the slave cylinder reservoir and found it below minimum and dirty. I took the car back they flushed the clutch, changed out the tranny and dif fluid. They wanted $360.00 to change just the tranny and dif fluid, but eventually did it for $124.00. It will be the last time that I have them perform this service because there are good DIY's posted on this site. Since the car has 68K, I plan to change the spark plugs and when I do, I'm also going to clean the throttle bodies.

Oil & Filter Change
Air Filter change
in-cabin micro filter change
Replace wiper blades
and lots of inspections...
$580 sounds a little expensive to me...
As for the throttle & intake cleaning - its an easy DIY job but I can understand your trepidation if you have no time or experience. This service is NOT listed in the Infiniti maintenance manual...

don't go to the dealer for a "15k-mile service". they love these bundled services since they can bury a bunch of labour charge with the myriad "inspections".
if your wipers are working fine, don't bother replacing those yet. if they start streaking or performing poorly, grab a new set from any parts store (i like Bosch Icons) and swap them out yourself. 5 min job.
order cabin and engine air filters online and replace those yourself. these are both a 1 out of 10 on the scale of DIY difficulty, with 1 being the easiest. you'll be done in less than 30mins, no joke. WIX makes great filters, but there are many other brands available. places like ROCKAUTO or JC Whitney have great prices for parts. many dealers have online parts stores as well. i get many things from InfinitiPartsUSA, which is owned by Infiniti of Scottsdale.
there is no need to do the throttle-body service yet - that is a classic dealer up-sell tactic. it is not listed on the required maintenance list from Infiniti.
i just saved you hundred$$$!
Hello fellow G 37 conv owners. I seriously need advice on how to deal with Infiniti dealers. I have a 2010 G37 Conv.
I have a rattle that to me sounds like is coming from back passenger (right) window area where the window rolls down into.
The dealership has now had my car since February 21st (about six weeks). Now they finally tell me that they got to my car!
They are telling me, they can hear the rattle but don't know how to fix it. Tomorrow the service manager is going to sit with the tech, ride it, decide what to do and then get back to me.
I don't know if anyone has had this issue as well. Any input about the rattle and dealing with Infiniti dealer would be helpful. I really love the car but am disappointed with the service.
Thank you.
