So I get pulled over tonight for the first time since getting the vert in December 09. About 1 mile from home there is a stretch of road thats dips and goes up an incline. the stretch of road is actually in one of my vids. The stretch of road is in vid #8 here and in daylight vid #5 here here
So from the top of the hill before the dip I don't ride the brakes to keep in the speed limit of 45. I gravity and the VQ do it's thing.
Anyway after leaving the light traffic is usually slow off the line and all of a sudden there's a car in the right lane (two lane road) in my "blind spot" keeping up with me. Then blue light special.
cop: I pulled you over because you were doing 62 in a 45. Do you know the difference between 62 ad 45.
me: I did not realize I was driving that fast.
cop:How many years have you been driving?
me: 11 (in this country anyway)
cop: Hand me you license and insurance (I start to get it)
cop: What's this for? (He's pointing to the wind deflector)
me: It's the wind deflector
cop: Stay in the vehicle until I get back (I still had the car running and the music volume low). They took a good little while. I'm sure he was checking out the car.
(Cop comes back)
cop: I'm not going to give you a ticket unless you do me a favor. Take it easy on the road etc.. don't speed etc.. school is out and you don't want to hit a kid. Kids can be wearing dark clothes and you won't see them in time.
(He hands back the license and insurance). Nice care by the way.
me : Thanks officer you are right, I'll take it easy. (thinking I just dodged one)
Once I get my springs installed in the morning I'll be more inclined to pay attention to the speed limit I think.

Yeah. I know it. I lucked out on my 03 sedan with new tires when I got it also, got a warning (83 after slowing down from 115 on I16) and never got a ticket or stopped since. So hopefully this holds true for the vert after getting stopped 6mths in. And there are more cops out since school is out.
haha it's so easy to speed when you have the top down and music blasting... but having a VR should make you a cop magnet no? I haven't been pulled over yet... knock on wood... keeping a low profile..
Yeah i've actually had that happen to me twice. Well, sorta once. The first time I was driving a 550 and it was 36 hours old. I was in Oakland and the blue was behind me and just hung out back there while I was doing 57 mph. Finally he pulls me over and walks around the car twice and then comes to the window to tell me "uh you don't have a license plate" "Yes, it's because it's brand new" "yeah, uh nice car" "look do you want to go for a spin?" "nah, i'd get in trouble, cool car though, have a nice day". I laughed all the way home. Second time, I pulled out to fast around a corner in a 430 and the cop pulls me over "ok you weren't speeding and I know the car is built for that but take it easy. Nice car though. . . (proceeds to talk car shop stuff with me)" He actually turned out to be a very cool guy and I see him around town now and then and always say hi.

I'm yet to see official stats on red being cop magnet. A co-workers red z06 is a magnet, but it's all driving style I think.
Phew. Springs would be a nice reward to the G for getting you out of a ticket, haha.
