Post Brought Ivory Home: 09 MW G37S VERT

I picked up my 09 Moonlight White G-s Vert lastnight. To be totally honest I wasn't sure if I would be overly enthusiastic about the performance aspect of the car and that worried me alittle. I was the guy saying I'd never buy a convertible and was all about speed and handling. I came out of a 08 6MT so obviously there was going to be a difference in handling and performance.

My initial driving impressions however have been pleasing. The car just looks amazing, the ride quality is smooth but still orientated for spirited driving experience. You can definately feel the added weight in comparo to the coupe but the car isn't a boat and is still pretty fast.

With the top down, paint waxed, wheels clean.. I don't want to race around anyway.. I feel like I want to relax and go for an enjoyable drive. Its really a different experience and I think its on another level then driving the standard coupe.

If your looking for all out performance I'd say Coupe 6MT or 370Z. If your looking for something thats going to return in terms of turning heads, better then decent performance as well as quality Vert is where its at.

As a recent Cab owner I agree. Most people think they are all about speed, but never do anything but drive to work.

You can feel the wiggle in the chassis over bumps...but hey the top is gone. I like it.

We've had a couple of great sunny days up here with temps in the 50's and I've had the top down a lot. I used to drive a BMW vert as my summer car - what I notice on the g37 is the engine (that and the interior is much more luxurious). I love the acceleration over the BMW - pulling hard out of a curve. Engine note is beautiful - nice little brrappp on the downshifts. Handling is good - my old e36 BMW was lighter and nimbler. Top down wind noise is much less than the BMW which was a freakin hurricane unless I had the wind deflector in. The response to road cracks and potholes is more "pointed" than on the BMW. On the other hand, top up the interior is quiet and luxurious - my wife doesn't feel like she's in for an adventure every time we go out which means we use the car more.

You've got some great driving roads near you if you are in NY. Last summer I did a "dream car" tour with Gotham Dream Cars - spent a day driving Ferraris, two Lambos, etc. They took us around Westpoint and some of the parks around that way - gorgeous winding roads - traffic was light mid-week. I need to figure out precisely where we went - it was beautiful and a perfect driving road. 7 Lakes Drive through Harriman?

Peter - Those are indeed some great roads. I grew up in lower NY state & know that area VERY well as I have romped many vehicles through Harriman including my CBR600. I live in northern NJ now - where are you?
