VERT OWNERS...how often do you...?
ATTN: ALL VERT OWNERS!!
I'm considering a vert, but am torn between the vert and coupe. I just sold my G35 coupe...and my question to all of you vert owners is..
HOW OFTEN DO YOU DRIVE WITH THE TOP DOWN?
Reason why I'm asking is, the more I've thought about it, when I owned my coupe I hardly even drove with the windows rolled all the way down and the sunroof open....LET ALONE HAVING A TOP DOWN?
This is why I ask!
APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK! THANKS EVERYONE!

Where are you located and how's the weather there all year?
In Dubai for instance I wouldn't, it's too dam hot you'd drive with the top down 3-4 months a year assuming it didn't rain then

I would actually be happier with a targa, privacy wise, but you get what you can.
With my M35X I always drive with the windows down and the sunroof open unless I am sitting in traffic. Then I hit the air con.
My top is down ANYTIME the weather is over 55 degrees and its not raining! In fact, I love to drive with the top down and the seat heater on.
haha what a silly question.. that's like asking how often do you wear a hat??
I agree 100% w/ bschurr.. I don't mind it being cold out at all.. I just put on the seat warmers, turn up the heat, and if it really gets cold.. just put up the windows. Nothing feels more refreshing than driving with the top down and cool air blowing past you.
I find it kind of funny that most of the convertible owners on the forum are mostly from northern states or canada! I figured this car would sell more in Socal or florida or something.. haha go figure.

Here's my piece of advice. If you're not sure that you'll be driving with the top down now then maybe the coupe is for you. I'm guessing everyone who got the Vert went into it because they ve been looking forward to that open top feeling. I personally don't see you dropping that top very often but at least you'll have the option

Renting 'vert vettes in the US (gotta love Hertz!) on business trips
has really whetted my appetite.

If it's 49/50 degrees and up the top is down, but if there is wind, not so much.
update:
Today was actually 46 degrees. The heater helps a lot. The top is down at every opportunity

I've had it 2 weeks and driven once with it down. But I loved it. In the summer in socal it's freaking hot, so top down at night only.
But it's worth just having that option to me, and I love the look of the car with the windows down and no B pillar.
But like a sunroof you won't miss it until you don't have the option.

You either want a convertible or you don't - there are too many compromises in terms of rear seat space or cargo otherwise. I'm in upstate NY and "enjoy the heck" out of it on good days - days when I am so glad I bought a convertible. I had a girlfriend when I was at Cornell who had a custom convertible and she never put the top down - it was a gift from her dad. If I lived in California I'd definitely get a vert. Here the vert is our second or third car - it doesn't have to do everything. But once we've got hockey and skiing covered, I can afford to have fun with a vert.
One of the things I've noticed driving a vert, when the top is down you meet a lot of people. People come up to you at gas stations, bikers talk to you at lights, other vert drivers give you a little wave as you go by.
