G37x Sedan - needs subframe work

Year: 2011
Make: INFINITI
Model: G37x Sedan
Price: $5500
Mileage: 140000
Color: Blue
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State/Prov): MN

Incredible G37x, blue with tan interior, only 140,000 miles, impeccably maintained, runs and drives great. I love this car. Just learned it needs the rear subframe replaced. This is a $11,000+ car I am willing to let go for $5,500 to someone who might like to do the work themselves and have a great daily driver. Great wheels and tires, new brakes. No accidents, only two owners, myself for the last ten years.

Just so I understand, why does the rear subframe need to be replaced?

Thank you,

Rick

Rear shock broke off and mechanic said shock mount broke off subframe because it rusted out. He would have to replace the whole rear sub frame because there was not enough clean metal to remount it to. It is a big job so selling it to someone who might be able to do their work themselves.

I'm not following this so well...
The rear shocks have two mounting points; the top bolts to the frame of the car and the bottom bolts to the rear spindle. (see the picture).
Not sure what the mechanic who made the diagnoisis is actually saying, but have you considered getting a second opinon? Or shoot a few pics from underneath (if that is feasible for you) and share them with the forum.
Any way, i was partially curious and partially wanting to make sure you have the correct diagnosis considering you halved the price.
