I don't see how it is messed up or shady. It barely cost anything to become premier and show your support to a site we all benefit from. It's just one of the small perks you get to encourage people to give back a little. Like Bill, Eric (Weiboy) has one of the best looking white 37 coupe out here but can't be voted for for because he hasn't made the leap yet. It's just how it is.
