And yes, the new 325 has the same displacement as the 330. Both are 3 liter engines with the 325 being detuned. This is probably due to component sharing rather than developing a new engine for the 325.
Correct. Infiniti will use engine size for designation of vehicle names. I believe they do have the recognition now for the G,M,FX,QX and Q class of vehicles and can attach whatever they want at the end of the names. Most of us on this forum refer to our cars as a G coupe or G sedan, right?

R33
R34
V35

Who can elaborate?
Nissan/Infiniti have not always named their cars in a similar manner to Merc and BMW. The introduction of the G35 in their lineup was a pivotal time for Nissan. It put them on the same map as the 3 series. In order to distance themselves from "another jap" automaker they have been modeling some of their products in the same manner as the competition they are gunning for.

The Skyline GTR's numerals you mention are meant to distinguish the different generations. I do not believe the numerals correspond to the engine. The G numerals are (along with the rest of Infinitis lineup) named after the engine displacemen in a simlar manner as Merc/BMW. Ultimately I think we will see another engine option in the G and it will follow suit in a similar manner as the M/FX.

I know that the R33, etc. is for the generations. I guess I was wondering if it is going to be the G37 here, but the V36 in Japan as the Skyline? Because right now the G35 in Japan is the V35 right?

Yep. Good question about the japan naming though. My guess is as good as yours. Afterall, it's a Nissan in Japan too. I think they just market stuff differently in America for some reason.
