G37x makes me drool.

<- Currently a Subaru owner. I've driven a 2008 EX35 (AWD) and a 2008 G35x, and loved both of them. Lots of fun. But, the sounds the G37 makes are pure sex. A G37x would be a dream come true. I really wish they would hurry up already and do it.

I know people here cross shop btw Mercedes and BMW, but I have no desire for any of their cars. From my experience, Infiniti makes cars that are not only fun to drive, but also very comfortable, have a lot of excellent technology features, and a high level of luxury. I've spent a couple of weekends driving around the mountains in a 2007 Mercedes E350, and I was happy it wasn't mine. It felt too heavy, and I was surprised that the seats weren't that comfortable. I also wasn't impressed by the 2007 BMW 525i.

.

its the same in the M, G37, and EX.... once you get navi the compass is built into the nav screen so they delete the compass in the mirror.

the 7 speed auto feels great -- after being able to feel it in the FX50 it doesn't hunt for gears and i hope the ratios will be the same.

Most likely the gear ratios will be the same; but hopefully the axle ratio will be 3.357 or less for the sake of a lower engine on the open road....

While LudwigB's post says engine output of the euro VQ37VHR is TBD, it has been released. It puts out the same SAE hp as our VQ35HR and something like 10 lb-ft LESS torque. It has less output than our 3.7. So it isn't going to be "raping" much of anything (except 328i's I guess).

They are using a tune over there that uses VVEL to reduce the "carbon emissions". While I'll leave the debate on the current "carbon hysteria" to the political forums, it is pretty obvious why the new FX uses the 3.5 here and why those holding out for a 3.7L sedan here for '09 will be sorry they waited...

The new gear ratio should help it to 60 and 1/4 a little quicker:

Current 5-speed AT's gear ratios:

(V6)
1st – 3.842
2nd – 2.353
3rd – 1.529
4th – 1.000
5th – 0.839

New 7-speed AT:

(V-6)
1st – 4.92
2nd – 3.19
3rd – 2.04
4th – 1.41
5th – 1.00
6th – 0.86
7th – 0.77
