Is it the paint? Something about that liquid platinum paint seems to really set it apart from the production model. Aside from the shaved doors, bumper, all glass roof, larger rims, lowered ride height, side view cameras instead of mirrors, the chorme acceent bit on the side skirt [looks shiny to me]....... I think it's that hypnotizing paint color

that is not lp. i don't know exactly what color that is, but i don't think it would ever be offered as a factory production color--too reflective, like chrome.

Exactly.... I'm not saying it's the same liquid Platinum Infiniti currently offers becuase, it's obviously not. I'm just saying whatever paint that is... looks like REAL liquid platinum.... or Platinum Chrome.... or whatever that color/hue/shade is called is what helps set the car off IMO.

Well if you take a close look, here are the differences
1) Headlamps on production version are reccessed- not on concept
2) front bumper is different on sport
3) concept looks like it is on 20's or perhaps 22s and the car is lowered
4) side skirts are lower
5) rear bumper is lower
6) rear fender flares are muted on production version compared to concept.
7) concept is painted in chrome(?)

With that said I still like the production version of the G37 over the G35

just beautiful! even though it was only in the video for a few seconds. i guess the minor changes does make a huge difference on people's impression. but all those things can be changed with the production car. just need some $$$. i also noticed the lines on the rear trunk is a bit different too. All that being said, i though the chops people have been making would really change our minds about the new g37.. but i guess not. the g37 concept just has that magical difference that is stunning!

There is one MAIN difference between the Production and Concept. The reason why the Concept looks so good is because the hood is much sleeker.

The front of the Production car is at least 1 inch thicker than the Concept -- the extra thickness affected the hood and the headlights panel, making the front look bulgy. The headlights not being flush with the panels don't help either.

The different is subtle, but it is exactly why the Production model does not look as good as the Concept.

See how the Concept's hood has a bigger slant that transitions into the drop to the bumper: http://images.leftlanenews.com/conte...07-g35-g37.jpg

Whereas the Production's hood goes straight outwards before encountering the bulgy headlights and finally drops into the bumper:

the more i look at the concept pics, the more i'm impressed with how much of it actually went into production. the way i see it, almost every body panel is exactly the same (i disagree that the hood and quarter lines are different or that the bumper is lower). the comcept seems to sit lower because it is lower. the wheel to fender gap is narrower than production. this is solved with a lowering kit. the front bumper looks exactly like a non sport model. the rockers look exactly the same. essentially, everything from the front fenders back, excluding the roof and mirrors are exactly the same...and i cant tell what you mean about the hood ^. the headlights, yes are different and i would have loved for the car to have that panoramic glass roof, but otherwise, it's the closest car to production from concept that i can recall.
