You actually think that would work? Nissan's VQ45VHR v. BMW's new S motor? HAHHAH! Not even close. Their new pride and joy will put Ferrari's new 4.3L to shame. I am absolutely serious about this. If you don't believe me look at what the N54 (335i's engine) are dynoing at. Offical rating is 300hp and 300ft lb but owners are dynoing about 290 hp and 297 ft (a bit different for each owner). On average it works out to a 3% or 4% drivetrain loss which is impossible and can only mean one thing: the engine is actually producing more power at the crank than what BMW has disclosed. And it's not even their "S" motor!

yeah. i seriously give the bavarians a quick praise. they've done their homework and are very serious in the competitive sports cars wars. only gripe is the cost of the car, but in the end, must be worth it.

now watch the dealers markup the prices of m3. i distinctively remember the e46 m3's marked up to 90k here in southern california for a YEAR.

Sorry... but a lot of this is crap. BMW doesn't tend to underrate their engines that much, that often. Yes, the N54 seems to be putting out more than the published numbers, but whether it's boost creep or to keep the numbers low compared to the new M3... or to surprise the competition, who knows. But it's somewhat isolated incident, especially compared to their highly strung out naturally aspirated engines. Was the previous M3 I-6 dynoing around 330 hp at the wheels? Nope. Trust me... with the RS4 pushing more HP, they would have loved to get a little extra out of it to win on paper.

Secondly, put Ferarri's 4.3L to shame? With 483 HP and 8500 rpm redline? How so? That's 112 HP/liter compared to about 105 for the new M3. And after having been out for 3 years... for that analogy the M3 engine is behind the game AND 3 years newer.

Thirldy, lighter than the previous I-6? Well, I fuggin hope so.. it was a cast iron block for crying out loud!

i would just rebuild new engine, jwt or greddy tt it.. and call it a day.. oh yea and turn up the boost

the vk 45 only weighs about 40-50 lbs. more than the vq so if infiniti put the vk in the g coupe it should only add about those pounds which wouldn't be bad at all

Well my plan is to drive the 07 G35s for 2 years and than trade it in for the g37 for the remaining 2 years

BMW's are over priced in Canada

I don;t think that nissan really wants to compete with itself. Anything Infiniti won't match up to the performance of the GTR i don;t think.

basicly its a E60 M5 - 2 cyl.. more like a detunned M5 engine in a V8.
