What's your best guess for the 2008 G35 Sedan?

probably not, maybe for the next Q, but not the G, lets be realistic.

 

Im getting sick of these stupid threads about the 2008 coupe being this superior beast or something....what are you basing your information off of? Look at the late 2002 Z it was a 5AT the g35 sedan came out before the g35 coupe and guess what the sedan was a 5AT as well, then the coupe came...guess what it was a 5AT as well. The 08 coupe is going to have the same transmission as the 07 sedan. Im willing to bet money on it.

As for the OP's question, I would guess a 6AT is possible for the 08 Sedan.

 

Infiniti is going to have to do something to keep up with the competition. More gears can mean less revs on the freeway, less spread between ratios and better acceleration. I would guess a 6 speed auto, unless Nissan has something else up its sleeve. Since there are 8 speed automatics out there, Nissan may up the ante.

 

more and more competitors are moving into 6 speed transmissions. Nissan has not done so for whatever reason.
Does it even matter?

Nissan has had a paddle shift 8 Spd CVT in it's version of the G35 Sedan, the Skyline V35 sedan, since 2002. The model is called Nissan Skyline 350 GT-8. I read an update recently though which stated that news out of Nissan was that there was no mention of carrying this through to the new model.
The technology is there, and it's simply a matter of how many "gears" they want to program the CVT to have. 6,7,8,10 - it's up to them.

I hope more than think the new AT will have 6 speeds. We could just use another one for the highway to prop up that open road mileage a bit. What I *don't* want is a huge overdrive that causes a downshift every time you drive over a mouse turd.

I believe it will be a 7 speed. This was suggested in a couple of the car mags that were testing the new '07 sedan.

A jump to a 7 speed would give give Infiniti an immediate competitive edge and perhaps carry them through a couple of car generations.

 

I don't think the transmission is changing next year. Maybe in the '09 model year but not now. I think if they were going to put a 6 or 7 spd. tranny in the G Sedan, they would have done it...unless it wasn't developed yet at the time of production.

 

How about a possible audi/vw like DSG?

 

now that the coupe has been released with a 5AT. I am guessing the same fo the 08 Sedan

 

+1 the vw/audi DSG is truly amazing, fast shifting without the harsh feeling of BMW's SMG. it'll be ideal for the mix of daily driving and gunning it when we feel like it.
