I find it hard to believe that the number one, premier Nissan is not going to be an Infiniti.

If the GT-R is a Nissan, they better start hiring some better techs at the dealerships to service a +/- $70k twin turbo supercar. That's why I take my Z to Infiniti dealerships for basic service.

^^^ +1

Plus, Nissan needs to upgrade their sales staff. I looked at 350Z's before I bought my Infiniti. I went to a dealer in St. Petersburg and could never get anyone to talk to me. One dealer in Clearwater handed me the keys to a 350Z and said drive it around the parking lot... he didn't even know my name, much less if I had a driver's license. The third Nissan dealership was OK, but they seemed to have an abundance of year-old cars.

I think I'll go back to the second Nissan dealership when the GTR comes out. I'll bet they don't let too many people drive that!

I had basically quit looking when a Lokey salesman called and said he found a G35 like I had been looking for (without a sunroof, 6mt, LR, etc.) and that it was coming in a week later. I'm driving it now.

Thumbs down

Yeah, that stinks. If your going to spend $70,000 for a car, I can't see your first choice being a Nissan from a Nissan dealership. (Picturing myself walking around the lot: Hmm, I was thinking about the GT-R but, now that I've test drove the new Sentra, I am really torn. )

Well, only thing we can hope is that they wait a year and come out with an Infiniti branded version.

If you think about the target market for each brand then it does make sense. We are all the atypical Infiniti customer. There are more mods done on 350z's than G35's percentage wise not because there are more of them. If they hit the 70k price point then it is perfect for the upper end(more disposable income) Nissan customer. Just look at the way the GTR was marketed and you can see that it wasn't aligned with the upper Nissan products such as the Cedric/Gloria. JMHO.

they need to go had to head label to lable with the acura NSX. Honda was smart enough to place this vehicle in their marquee brand and I hope Nissan has the foresigt to match them.

Unless they are trying to reinvint the nissan lable sort of like volkswagon has been tryng to do with toureg and phaeton which I think it as huge liability. I mean by they could end up in bank ruptcy court if they make middle America feel like it is abrand they can no longer afford. There is bread and butter then there is gravvy... Nissan...Infiniti

stupid decision if you ask me. No way Nissan dealers will sell a lot of $70,000 cars.

I thought for sure with the new lexus coupe and the rise of the SL, M6, etc that this would be branded infiniti. Shocked really.

One word to describe this mistake (already mentioned above): Phaeton. A $70K Volkswagon really captured the hearts of everyone.

That's a very good point. Before, I had thought that they should label it as Nissan to keep the tradition, but at a marketing standpoint, it may not be a good decision. But then again, the 70k VW didn't have any history behind it.

The GTR would sell well even if only Kia dealers sold it.

This is the last year for the RSX... Rumor has it that there will be a new 2-door TSX some time in the future...

It's been mentioned several places, but here's what Edmunds has to say about the RSX.

What Edmunds.com Says:Rumors that the RSX will be dropped from the lineup have yet to be confirmed so we're still waiting to see if there will be a revised version for 2007.

What We Know: There has been rampant speculation concerning the fate of Acura's RSX coupe. Most rumors seem to indicate the RSX will be dropped after the 2006 model year, but Acura still isn't confirming its death just yet. We expect there's another coupe in the works to fill the gap, possibly a two-door version of the next-generation TSX. With the debut of the TSX still a way off, it doesn't look like there will be any answers until later this year.
