Amazing how Z's can run low 13s with basic bolt-ons, add 200lbs and you have a G35 that will run a 14.2 on a good day. Why is that? Or do your times have a lot to do with what you did with the steering, or what?

yeah, the slicks help just a bit, but you still have to know what youre doing with them

my car is only trapping 20 in the last 1/8th, we are trying to figure out why, i am ditching the CAI to see if that is the reason, with my 1/8th mile traps i should be from 105-106 easily

had fun out there last night guys, i might be going back out there friday night to see if i can beat albertos times, i was messing with him about it... hehehe

yeah, he ran some good numbers, especially with his fuel problems and final tuning still needed to be sorted out....

I forgot about his slicks (what a cheater)

But still, slicks can't shave a full second off your time. Remember Todd only ran a 13.4 or 13.5 at that very same track and that was with a VORTECH. Of course he trapped a lot higher too, but still that doesn't explain the huge difference in 1/4mile times between Gs and Zs. Look at CJ's time and compare it to any other Vortech'ed G on street tires...

todd was trapping 109 to 110 i will be trapping 106 when i get rid of this cold air intake, he was spinning a lot!! cjs car is just perfect for the track, its an automatic that doesnt make full boost till 3500 rpms which is just after he floors it, so his car just hooks up like crazy. todd could have ran better if he wasnt in the throttle as much OR if he had some drag radials or slicks. he just decided to run only on his street tires. cjs car traps high 111s which is awesome. cj and matt both have the miracle setups, they make just enough power to take off perfect and not spin too much and then they make really good power up where they need it, perfect match (Auto and Vortech). i should be trapping 114-115 here soon with my nitrous as soon as i figure out the bottle pressure stability issue

Run what you brung!! gutted, not gutted, slicks, nitrous, vortech, turbo, we all have the same options to buy...

people dont understand how much weight really effects their cars drag racing... thats why if you are planning on having a drag race car, why not start with one thats 200-300 pounds lighter

Nothing more truer than that. I hate that stupid "Pinks" show because they are always spotting car lengths, negotiating bottle/non-bottle and all sorts of bs. It's simply retarded. I mean, seriously: Do you roll up to the C6 at the light and say, "hey man, I'll race you for your slip but you gotta give me at least a block head start!"

Just baffles me when people bash and such.

Anyway, if you are comparing an 'off the street' car's times to others times, I think it is fair to point out that your car is somewhat gutted; or point out that someone may be racing at the track with two people in the car; or state that they took out their spare, had 1/16th a tank of gas and dropped tire pressure to 20psi; or had slicks; or anything of the like. But to bash someone for a better time because they 'tuned' their car is silly.

That being said, I personally try not to do anything to the car: leave my work stuff in the trunk, leave the spare, whatever gas is whatever gas (though I ain't gonna fillerup down the street from the strip), etc. I may start to let some of the air out of the tires when they start to lose grip (now that they have 7k miles on them), but that's about it...

I'm rambling I guess...Either way, audible, there's no doubt you can drive slicks, weight and naws aside...
