I'm working on a new project (yes, I know the last one isn't finished).
Over the past two years we've gotten all kinds of requests for an easy to install auto locking/unlocking module. Our window module will lock, but it won't unlock the doors (because of the RAP system). We have a dedicated auto lock module, but I'll be the first to admit that it has its flaws (relay pack installation requireing cutting 3 wires).
So, I came up with an idea to build a dedicated time based lock/unlock module to mount inside the door. I have one on my bench now, and it works perfect here, but I still need to install it tomorrow. If all goes as planned you will NOT have to remove the door panel to install it! This module is also cool beecause it has a door pin input to prevent the doors from locking if the drivers door was open at any point during the six second count down.
Once I get it tested though, as always, I'll be looking for some beta testers. This should be the easiest KPtech module to install out of ALL of them! Simply pop up the door lock switch panel, splice a few wires, and tuck it all back together.
Anyone interested?
Oh, and for those of you who haven't seen it yet, check out the soon-to-be-produced mirror tilt module! http://www.g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89893
You all stay warm down there, and don't be too jealous of the 40 degree weather up here in Ohio!

The auto lock thing is a very touchy subject. Some people think its the best thing ever (for safety) and some people absolutely hate it.
It seems people with small kids generally think its a good idea.

personally i have had that option in a couple cars (auto lock) with car alarms because you can set them to do that, i hated it more than anything. i would try everytime to get outta my car and it would be locked. it drove me freaking crazy. my old roommate insisted it was the coolest thing in the world so no one would come up and grab you outta your car though.....

I like the roll up mod with the lock feature it works great. I'm waiting for the mirror tilt mod. Kevin I sent you a PM earlier this week if you need a tester. If not let me know when it's released.

The current flaw is that it require cutting wires to install it. Most people frown upon cutting wires for some reason (I'm not sure why). I think I have more cut wires then solid wires at this point, and I have no problems!
The full fledged universal auto lock module works really well, its Nissan's door locking system that sucks.

Well, I did a days worth of testing and found that this proposed module will not work. Trying to determine if the car is running or not based on voltage dones't work very well, as the battery voltage is constantly fluctuating. I put my volt meter on the car and drove around a bit and noticed that when the windows are moving the battery voltage drops below 12vdc! So, it will back to the drawing board for a module like this
the auto lock feature is cool if you can open your door without having to unlock the car which you can do in the g. I have auto door locks with my alarm, but the doors don't lock until I go over 2,500 rpms. I like it that way. When I first got Kevin's window module I set up the auto lock feature and locked myself out of my car twice within 1 day of installing the window module. Needless to say I disabled that function quickly.
I like the mirrow module. I am pretty much in. Let us know when it's available.

It doesn't look like there is much interest in the mirror module, so I'm not sure how exactly we will proceed. It costs so much to do limited productions that its almost not worth it. We took a gamble on the sunroom modules and ordered 100 boards, and still have over half of them left. I'm not sure we want to gamble again and get stuck with a bunch more products we can't sell! I'm sure we'll figure something out with it though.

I would have pick up a sunroof module but you could never get it to work with my Sedan. Has that changed? I like the mirror module idea 'cause it is an nice feature in every other car I have owned (except the G??)
