Custom CAI i did for the Z...

here is what i did the other day, this was made possible experimenting with my G sedan old Injen CAI and factory Z pipe, seems to work well and it is definently getting colder air, it actually cant get any cooler...

also this was made possible because of the lack of bumper reinforcement, so if you have a problem with it, then please keep your comments to yourself, just passing on an idea that will definently work a lot better than the placement of all the CAI available for the Z s...

thanks and if you have any questions please ask cause i like to share anything i have learned about our cars, always trying to come up with something new and innovative...

will see how well it works on wed(tomorrow) when i run a couple runs NA, then a couple of runs with the 125 shot..

i posted this up on my350 so if you read this already, it is word for word the same post, thanks guys,

here you go, the sun is at a bad angle so not the best pics...

you can kinda see the intake filter in there, but again the sun is messing up the angle...

Cool idea, always nice to see something new.

Any plans to get a bypass valve now that it's that low down?

Nice job. Only the little bit of polished aluminum to give it away.

thanks guys, well it does sit low, but not as low as it did on my sedan, and it is actually back a little bit so the water wont get to it from the front, also the coolest thing about it is that it can move up high, all the way by the hood latch or move down low, all the way down by the plastic gaurd that attaches to the front lip....

my car pulls harder for sure, it pulls hard all the way to 5500 and then pulls harder to the rev limiter, cant wait to go to the track tomorrow....

anyone else wanna go, its supposed to be cool and dry....

Very sharp. Nice home grown innovation.

As the others said, just watch the water getting sprayed up on the filter. From what I have read, it does not necessarily take full submersion of the filter to hydro-lock. Might want to consider the bypass just to be on the safe side.

Nice idea.

How strong is the filter? What if a rock or lots of bugs smack it.
U might wana put a black mesh behind your grille to prevent debris.
What if it rains cat and dogs outside? Have u consider the possibly the filter getting wet. Since I don't see anything shielding it from getting wet. There a shroud u can put around the filter. Talk to my bro Demonteverde321 he has one around his K&N typhoon
