I beg to differ. I am under Cingular wireless and have found their service to be very good. Their customer care operatives have always been friendly, helpful to me, and able to resolve my problems quickly and efficiently. Cingular is still in the process of building more towers since the AT&T buy out and is still upgrading all of its AT&T systems. But if I had to defect, I'd probably go either Verizon (cingular's main competitor) or T-Mobil (they allow out of country phones from Asia).

My voicemail goes away periodically and often people call me and just get a busy signal or some other strange noise. This has been going on since I've had the phone. Customer service with cingular is nonexistant. I've spent hours on the phone with them only to be told to take the phone into the store. When I take it in they either refused to work on it b/c I didn't purchase it there or they said they couldn't fix it and tried to sell me a new phone, with a new contract of course. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and spoken with their head office in Atlanta to no avail. The problems usually resolve themselves eventually but always come back in some form. The minute my contract is up I will be switching to a new carrier, probably back to verizon.

Oh great. Now you've gone and done it. Now Brandi will go into hiding for another 3+ months until the next All Florida Meet.

Actually there are a couple of girls that joined the club who asked me to keep their names off of the public roster and just lurk around in invisible mode. I think they're afraid of you Jeremy.

I have been with Bell South Mobility/Cingular Wireless in Miami for over 10 years and am very happy--I can even talk while in an elevator in most downtown tall buildings. After Wilma, only Cingular and Sprint and very reliable connectivity. My wife used to have Sprint and was happy, but switched to T-Mobile because of her company and hates T-Mobile's connectivity. We both use our phones daily for business.

cingular will let you use out of country phones as well.

here is my speech

you want the best coverage get alltel or verison.
you want to pay less and get the most minutes out of those two get alltel. verzion is more expensive because of all the advertising overhead they have. both companies run the exact same systems and use each others towers.

you want a cool phone get cingular or tmobile
the difference here is that cingular has more coverage but costs more
tmobile has less coverage but offers you more minutes for the money

sprint has great plans right now out, except that there service isnt the best. they run the same systems as verizon and alltel, but dont have as many towers. their phones are pretty good as well. if you choose to go sprint make sure you get a sanyo phone. they work the best on sprint. and get the 8300 best one. but it is 150

keep in mind i sell cell phones.
currently i sell cingular, alltel, and sprint.
and have sold tmobile and verizon before.

if i were to get a new phone it would either be on alltel or cingular (currently on)
on alltel i would get the new nokia flip 6255i or the just released razr for alltel(came out yesterday we sell them at 200 for new lines)

on cingular i would probably get a free phone and then buy a phone from myworldphone.com but im not goin to tell you which one i would get.

Thanks for all the responses guys & gal That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. Based on what I read and what friends have told me, I'll be switching to either Sprint or Verizon within the next month.

Thank you, I will do that! All I want is a simple multimedia phone with a camera, nothing fancy because I don't see myself shelling out $200-300 or much less $500+ on a phone which I'm going to destroy in no time (one of the crash tests my samsung went through was getting dropped from the 4th floor, and it lived..). Currently I'm considering either the Samsung SCH a950 or the Moto E815 from Verizon, or the Sanyo MM 8300 from Sprint.

Thanks for the info Dan, I made my post before reading yours. Yeah the 8300 was the one I was looking at, and it's $69 online with a 2-year plan and $99 at a sprint store. I was also looking at the MM A880 by Samsung and they told me that pretty much the only difference is the built-in antenna. Do you know anything about the ones I mentioned in my post above?

Oh, and also what do I need to do when transferring my number to another carrier? Is there a fee for that? I don't need to notify Cingular or close my account, right? And do I still get the same online offers with a new account even though I'm keeping my old number? Sorry, too many questions

yes you would still get the same offers.

just make sure you dont cancel you cingular number. if you cancel it before you port it you wont be able to keep it.

when you go to your new company tell them that you will be porting your number from cingular. you will need to have your account number with you when you do it. when the port goes through it will cancel your cingular account and then cingular will send you one last bill.

buyin phone online is cheaper but if you ever have a problem good luck tryin to get them to help you. and dont think bout takin it to a real store cause they will tell you to go talk to the person you bought it from. whoever you buy it from gets paid not the person who is helping you. so why would they want to help you. i do it all the time.

people want cheaper stuff that just human nature. but if you have problem good luck tryin to get a real store or your internet store to help you. i personally think its worth the little bit extra to buy it in a store and leave with it then have to wait for it to come in the mail.

if goin sprint get a sanyo phone

If I buy online, I'd only get it from the sprint or verizon site respectively, not from a third party site/agent. Does that make any difference? I'm leaning towards buying it from a store anyway. Hate to wait, especially if I have a mod or sumting like that on order

Actually Mrs. FLFIRE was the first FGC girl even though she's never posted or shown up to a meet.

Mrs. Neffster is the FGC's First Lady, don't forget here either.
