I think it depends upon whether it's a "soft delete" which is what the moderators do or an admin type of permanent delete. Soft deletes keep the post count up, like when I closed the 1,000,000 post PW thread, we didn't lose our inflated post numbers. After O NO deleted BOTH of those threads with a "hard delete" (if that's what it's called) our post counts were shot down like we were storming Normandy all over again.
