What was the reason that your prior ticket was thrown out? Did you have your exhaust noise level measured? Did the officer measure your exhaust noise level?

wow its been a couple days since ive been on here. but thank you for the responses..

what's funny is the trooper.. is an arrogant SOB he said "so why did you change it" and be being through this whole thing already knew that a simple suggestion of effiency/hp plead wouldnt due.. so i blerted out.. mmmmm?? well its a show car.. 316.272 Exhaust systems, prevention of noise.--

(1) Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with an exhaust system in good working order and in constant operation, including muffler, manifold pipe, and tailpiping to prevent excessive or unusual noise. In no event shall an exhaust system allow noise at a level which exceeds a maximum decibel level to be established by regulation of the Department of Environmental Protection as provided in s. 403.061(11) in cooperation with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a vehicle on a highway.

(2) The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.

(3) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Look here for the measurement standards. http://www.dep.state.fl.us/legal/Rul...eral/62-18.pdf
Maybe that will help.

62-18.720 Instrumentation.
Equipment used in making vehicle exhaust system sound measurements shall consist
of the following:
(1) Sound Level Meter. Sound level meters shall be of the type meeting
A-weighting requirements and Type 2 or better specifications of the American National
Standards Institute Inc. or its successor bodies. Alternately, a microphone/magnetic
tape recorder/indicating meter system whose overall response is equivalent to the
above may be used.
(2) Sound Level Calibrator. An acoustic calibrator of the coupler type,
accurate to within +0.5 dB, shall be available for the calibration of sound level meters.
(3) Tachometer. A calibrated engine speed tachometer with an accuracy of
+100 rpm over a range of 2,200 to 5,000 rpm shall be used. Full scale should have a
reading of at least 6,000 rpm. Tachometers used for the testing of motorcycles and
motor-driven cycles shall have a steady state accuracy of +5%.
(4) Anemometer. If tests are conducted outdoors during windy periods, an
anemometer shall be used to measure the wind speed.
(5) Windscreen. An open-cell foam windscreen recommended by the
manufacturer of the sound level meter shall be used.
Specific Authority: 403.061(7), 403.061(13), 403.415, FS.
Law Implemented: 403.415, 403.415(8), FS.
History: New 7-19-77. Previously numbered a 17-18.72, Formerly 17-18.720.
62-18.730 Instrument Calibration.
All equipment and instruments used in making vehicle exhaust sound measurements
shall be maintained in calibration in accordance with the instrument manufacturer's
calibration instructions.
Specific Authority: 403.061(7), 403.061(13), 403.415, FS.
Law Implemented: 403.415, 403.415(8), FS.
History: New 7-19-77. Previously numbered as 17-18.73, Formerly 17-18.730.
62-18.740 Personnel.
Persons selected to conduct sound measurement tests shall have received training in
the techniques of sound measurement and the operation of sound measurement
instruments. Personnel making mesurements shall be positioned as follows:
(1) Technician Location. The technician making direct readings of the meter
shall be positioned in relation to the microphone in accordance with the instrument
manufacturer's instructions. Where the instruction manual is vague or does not include
adequate information, a specific recommendation shall be obtained from the
manufacturer.
DEP 1999 VEHICLE SOUND MEASUREMENT 62-18

(2) Bystander Location. During sound measurements bystanders shall not be
within 10 feet (3.0 m) of the microphone or vehicle being measured, except for a
witness or trainee, who may be positioned behind the technician on a line with the
technician and the microphone.
Specific Authority: 403.061(7), 403.061(13), 403.415, FS.
Law Implemented: 403.415, 403.415(8), FS.
History: New 7-19-77. Previously numbered as 17-18.74, Formerly 17-18.740.
62-18.750 Meter Operation.
The sound level meter shall be used according to the instrument manufacturer's
instructions and as follows:
(1) Microphone Orientation. The microphone shall be oriented in relation to
the source of the sound as specified by the microphone manufacturer. Where the
instrument manual is vague or does not include adequate information, specific
orientation recommendations shall be obtained from the manufacturer.
(2) Meter Setting. The meter shall be set for the A-weighted network and
slow response. Tests conducted under Section 62-18.770 shall use the fast meter
response.
(3) Calibration Check. An external calibration check shall be made before
and after each period of use and at intervals not exceeding 2 hours during continued
use.
(4) Ambient Sound. Measurements shall be made only when the A-weighted
ambient sound level, including wind effects and all sources other than the vehicle being
measured, is at least 10 dBA lower than the sound level of the vehicle.
(5) Wind. Measurements shall not be made when the wind velocity at an
outdoor test site is more than 12 miles per hour (19.3 kph).
Specific Authority: 403.061(7), 403.061(13), 403.415, F.S.
Law Implemented: 403.415, 403.415(8), F.S.
History: New 7-19-77. Previously numbered as 17-18.75, Formerly 17-18.750.
62-18.760 Light Trucks, Buses and Passenger Cars.
Exhaust systems for motor vehicles, other than motorcycles, with a
manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds (4,536 kg) or less and all
passenger cars shall comply with the specified noise limits of this part when tested in
accordance with the following specifications:
(1) Measuring Site. The vehicle under test shall be positioned either on
outdoor pavement or on a shop floor (not over a hoist or pit) in location where the
exhaust outlets face an open shop door. No sound reflecting surface other than the
pavement and vehicle being measured shall be with 10 feet (3.0 m) of the exhaust
outlets.
(2) Microphone Location. The microphone for the sound level meter shall be
at the same height as the center of the exhaust outlet but not closer to the pavement than 8 inches (203 mm). The microphone shall be positioned with its longitudinal axis
parellel to the ground, 20 inches (508 mm) from the edge of the exhaust outlet, and
45+10 degrees from the axis of the outlet (Figure 6). For exhaust outlets located 12
inches (305 mm) or more inboard from the vehicle body, the microphone shall be
located at the specified angle and 8 inches (203 mm) from the vehicle body.
FIGURE 6
(3) Engine Operation. The engine shall be at normal running temperature.
With the transmission in neutral or park position, the engine speed shall be stabilized
to three-quarters of maximum rpm. For vehicles manufactured before 1972, an
average steady state engine speed of 3,000 rpm shall be used.
(4) Exhaust Sound Level. The sound level for a given outlet shall be the
highest reading obtained during the test, disregarding unrelated peaks due to
extraneous ambient noise. The sound level recorded shall be that of the loudest outlet
for the vehicle. The maximum exhaust sound level for motor vehicles with a
manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less, except
motorcycles, shall not exceed 95 dBA for the following schedule of compliance:
Year Model Operative Date
