So I woke up this morning to find that the rear of my car (panel where the infiniti logo and letters are) was keyed. I had a nice line going straight across above the infinti letters. I cried and screamed at the gods up above for about 45 minutes .... then proceeded to work on the scratch for a good hour using meguire's Scratch X. I've made it less noticeable but the scratch is still very deep and visible.

Has anyone in the Orlando area used any automotive scratch removal service like those found in this Craig list:

never used them. If you use a microfine buffing compound on it with a very soft rag and go with the scratch, you can polish down in the scratch to make it less noticeable. Or, if your very steady, you can touch it up with touch paint, then several weeks later, lightly sand just the touchup paint and buff it. Do this as a last attempt only, you could buff through the original paint.

I have used ScratchX for scratches, but, as you found out, it doesn't remove deep scratches...

 

Sorry to hear about that, Ian. I hate haters.

If the scratch is deep, you may have no alternative than to repaint or reclear it, depending on how deep it goes. If it is to the metal, rapaint is the only option.

 

ive found that even with the light scratches that come out pretty good after using scratch remover, they tend to show up again after a few months. best thing is to have them buffed out with rubbing compound(get someone to do it if you dont know how or you may be wishing the only thing wrong was the scratch) and then it should be gone permanently.

Yup, after repeated attempts using scratch X, I think i've hidden the scratch as best as it can be. In the sunlight, if you were standing facing at the right side of my rear bumper, you probably wouldn't notice it. Too bad I can't say the same if you were standing on the opposite side. If I was going to getting it fixed, repainting it would be my option as one part of the scratch is deeper than the rest. I'd probably have to debadge the rear of my car in order for them to repaint it as well. I plan on fixing it later. I need to focus money on my wheel/suspension setup right now. It just sux seeing it scratched like that being I'm so particular with it...
