Couple of classes and you will learn about taxes, liens, different types of mortgages, appraisals, varible intrest rates and a few other things. It's well worth it. I had a friend who did it a few years back. He now owns several properties and works part time for kicks and giggles. I want to look into it as well.
not the best time to get into real estate.. everyone and there mothers became real estate agents and **** like 2 yrs ago before the big boom in the market.. now ever since the fallout builders are giving homes away.. not sure what aspect your gettin into but just some FYI i know like 3 agents who havent sold a home in one year.
im in the Orange Park/Jax area...it is a buyers market rigth now...so sellers gatta sit back...but im mroe concerned about getting a real estate lincense and selling properties on the side anyways...liek someone said above me for ****s and giggles...but what advantages does it really offer compared to just buying a house, than giving it to a realator to sell for you (besides the obvious fact that u dont have to pay them the % charge) is that all the perks? i mean im not sayin that good, but i just want to know the major perks of it...thanks alot guys...and ill be trying to PM them members you guys pointed me to...thanks again....

Anyways I have my license, and I'm doing more commercial than residential real estate in Orlando. The residential market is horrible right now, but it will improve over the next couple years. If you need any help with the test let me know, I have some good study materials. I'm going for my broker's license too, so far it sux
Anyways good luck with whatever you do.

Go ahead and do it. The market will bounce back eventually and you want to be seasoned when that happens. Remember almost every self made millionaire has a real estate background or at least a good amount of property in their portfolio.
the market is perfectly fine in my opinion and many others. some just dont know which way to go about handling it
. I have many listings and am staying very busy.
Oh and about the comment of there are too many people getting their license....it is true but now those new unexperienced agents are dropping like flys because they dont have enough clientele and consistent $$ coming in.

thanks for all of you who chimed in...ill be sending you guys PMs really soon...i start my course March 14-May 2...im talking to my dads broker right now for more advice (dont know why i didnt do it beore) but you guys are a big help...
My wife is a realtor. She is doing better now that the market has slowed down. When the market was hot all the sellers wanted to sell their houses on their own for outrages prices. Now that the market has slowed down they are turning to realtors. My wife is averaging one sale a month with the purchase price usually around $300K. Don't listen to all the hype about how bad the market is. It's just normal now unlike the frenzy it was a couple of years ago. The people saying how bad the real estate market is are the same people saying how bad the economy is.
