Porsche Club of America Track Day (No 56K beyond this point.. lol)

Whether you have 600hp or run 11's in the 1/4 mile, you don't know what your car is all about until you've been on a road course. I know this type of driver ed events has almost no following on a forum that's all about straight line fun, twin turbos and 1/4 mile racing, but in my opinion it's a must that everyone needs to do at least once.. and prepare to be addicted! As my instructor put it, tracking is the most fun you can have in a car with your clothes on

Enough talking, here are some of the participants that were there, seeing all these cars alone was worth going! My host resized the pictures so a lot of quality is lost, sorry about that.

definitely some sick cars. the only reason i want fi is to make my hp match my cars weight so that i can track better. as much fun as speeding is, theres nothing like whipping around a corner with some throttle.

The event was held at Moroso which includes a road course as well as a drag strip. And if you miss turn 7, you'll end up on the drag strip and you're gonna get FINED.

W0ady you'd be surprised, but it is possible to have TOO much power for the track. As dothemath put it in his thread, it's the instructors in Miatas that pass the Z06's and Porches. It's about technique and skill, when you get out there you realize how much you really s**k at driving. There is so much room for driver improvement before one moves up to higher power levels. Of course, the G is not the best balanced car out there, but then again neither is a rear-engine 911.

He said he tried, but the seatbelt didn't feel comfortable

You'll fit right in with your Boxster Ok ok I'm kidding, definitely try to make it next time though. I'm going back in December.

Thanks JB, no he didn't. I would have loved to see it on the track though. The CGT is amazing in person, pictures do it no justice. The stance is so much wider and more aggressive than it looks in photos. I fell in love with it, and the Cobalt blue GT3, as you can tell from the pics

You know, I'm going through the same dilemma haha. The GT3 is so much more hardcore.. the blue one was caged, no sunroof, had GT3 race seats (not your regular 911 power/leather seats). It's RWD too... The turbo has more creature comforts and all-around more 'civilized' than the GT3. Love the wider body and the side scoops too...

Let me know which one you decide on getting
