This is why you shouldn't take your car to Jiffy Lube!

I bet that it happens in many other places too. That's why is always better to work on your own car

This makes me wonder if all the dealers themselves perform everything you take your car in for (e.g., 15k, 30k mile service, changing all filters and fluids). They probably get lazy too.

With my last car ('98 Oldsmobile Intrigue), I took it to TiresPlus to do a checkup. At the time, I had no clue about cars...so I got yanked around by dealers. The bill ended up being $1300. I don't remember the exact work that was done, but it was refilling all the fluids and doing something with the AC and radiator. A few weeks later, my overheating light on my dash would come on sparatically. Well, I went to the same TiresPlus because my car smelled like there was no collant left in the hoses... What do you know. Dry! I didn't have time for them to refill it, as I had to drive back to Orlando (I was in Clearwater at the time), so they filled it with water. Within a week or so, it blew.

On Christmas Eve, driving from Orlando Clearwater to be with my family, my car died. The collant hoses blew. $400 and a week later, I got my car back. A week later, I got my G. Thanks TiresPlus.

That was my main argument to my mom. I put close to $3000 in the last year of my ownership. I actually managed to get $3200 for it from Lokey Pre-Owned.
