2015 Q60S AWD engine issues after dealer service

2015 Q60S engine issues after oil service at dealer

I recently went in for oil change service at my dealership for my 2015 Q60S AWD at ~47k miles. Got oil/filter changed and they recommended fuel induction cleaning, so I did it as I baby the car and try to keep it as pristine as I can. Had a multi-point inspection done as well. Car was fine the rest of that day and the next one running errands until the end of the day I went to start it and it would idle around 500rpm and sound like it was stuttering or about to die. Painfully drove it home trying to stay under 2k rpm because it would stutter and almost give out above that.

Took back to dealer and now are telling me I need to Replace rear timing cover oil galley gaskets, covers, crankshaft seal front rtv, timing cover o-rings, vtc cover gaskets and a few more for about $5k.

They also are saying the rear subframe bushings are leaking and it needs to be replaced for $4k. Is this common and should I be concerned that this is something they caused during service / why it was not brought up then? Really just lost and upset with the situation in all honesty.

edit: also codes were p0300 and p0021

The main rear bushing is a known point of failure. Infiniti will only sell a new subframe with the bushing. You can buy a polyurethane bushing from Whiteline and have a shop install it. They will have to drop the subframe and press out the old bushing. Your probably looking at $500-$800 from a local shop.

A 2015 Q should not be suffering from the gallery gasket so early. Usually a Gallery gasket doesnt always give a p0300 ( multiple cyl misfire). Though they could push the code as related to the VTC code, this code was not there prior to the service and now it is.

My recommendation is to get yourself a scanner, delete the codes and see which one comes up first.

Rear bushing is because they will replace the whole subframe instead of the bushing (Manufacturer's recommendation).

Continue to follow up with the dealer, at that mileage there should be some sort of warranty and continue to put pressure on the dealer since this issue was not there before. Quite possible that the induction service created the misfire. Though difficult to relate the VTC code to the misfire, it's quite possible that the misfire could influence the VTC. It's also possible that due to that low mileage the car might have started to damage the gasket and created a leak which was exacerbated by the misfire.

I would find an independent shop and get a second opinion. Or better yet get a set of tools and start wrenching. Z1 motorsports sells the rear subframe for 1150. The other issues sound like dealer caused or scam to get a lot of money out of you. If it really does need that much work at those low miles I would be getting a different car.

Seems too coincidental. I thought these cars didn't have problems after 2013, because they upgraded the gallery gaskets to metal. I'd get a second opinion, or put pressure on the dealership since it wasn't like that before the service.
