Help URGENT HELP w/Catalytic Converter
Hello. Would like to apologize in advance for the long post
Got a SEL on my 2010 G37 Coupe back in early December. I checked the codes and got a P0300, P0301, and a P0430. Decided to check under the car (was confused about the P0430 code) and saw that my passenger side cat was glowing red on the inside. Not to mention the car sounded different, like a V8, compared to the normal sound from the muffler delete I had. It also had a slightly rough idle. Typical misfire symptoms.
I changed all 6 spark plugs to no avail. Then decided to do an oil change a week later (was overdue for one). I continued to drive the car to work, school, and around town. It had a slight loss in power but it was nothing that affected major drivability.
Drove it like this for a month or so until yesterday, while headed to school, the car had almost no power. I would stop on the gas pedal and it would barely reach 30 while RPMs were @ like 4000 something. I also noticed that the passenger side cat was making a clinking sort of noise. Pulled the car over, turned it off, and checked under the car only to see that the same cat was glowing red like crazy, all the way up to where it attaches to the y-pipe. Decided to let it rest for a bit, threw my hazards on, and drove her back home
Checked the codes when I got home and I got a P006a, P0106, P0300, and a P0430. Did some research on the P006a and the P0106 and ultimately decided that I would need a new MAP sensor. Bought one off AutoZone and got it delivered the next day. Replaced the old one with the new one, started the car up, same problem. Cleared the codes, drove around, still had barely any power and acceleration. Went to AutoZone and purchased a coil pack to replace the dead one for cylinder 1. Replaced the coil pack, cleaned the throttle bodies, and cleaned both MAF sensors. Did a throttle body relearn and reset the ECM (I hope I did them right).
Car did not feel as rough as it was before and the acceleration and power got a tiny bit better, but still wasn't able to go past like 30. The clinking noise from the passenger cat was still present. Checked the codes again and I still had the same codes, except for now I had no P006a and instead had P010a. Decided to order replacement cats and they will get here Monday. Did some research and found out that I possibly have a clogged cat as a result from driving on the misfire which would explain the loss of power and acceleration. Does anyone have any idea on these issues or have experienced something similar?
