Rod knock sound P0021code - Help!
I haven't checked my oil in a good month, I was driving with a couple buddied and all of a sudden my engine started bogging out I quickly threw on my hazards and pulled over. I was still getting oil on the dipstick, no CEL yet but oil was below the low mark on the stick, I wasn't due for an oil change for another 1.5k miles. I quickly threw in a couple small jugs of oil from a local gas station. and the knocking got worse I could not bring the engine above 2k rpms without fearing for my engine blowing up, the CEL came on so I slowly brought it back home (2 minute drive). I was hearing this sound slightly the day before but thought it could have been a timing chain issue I have not been driving it hard since. I pulled out my scanner just now and got a code P0021 which is camshaft position timing (over-advanced or system performance bank 2) I am very worried as my girl might need an engine swap but I heard it is good if you catch rod knock early. Let me know your thoughts anyone that has had this code on their vq37 let me know what you had to do to fix it. I was also wondering if a tune would be able to fix the timing? I am getting tuned soon so if that is a possibility let me know. Any feedback is appreciated at this time, feel free to chime in.
Thank you.
Thank you.
