HFC and Y Pipe install - ECU reset?

My OEM cats with 94k (2012 x sedan) on them have been rattling a bit, had a shop install Kinetix HFCs and a Dynamic performance y-pipe yesterday. TOTALLY worth the 386.00 spent for labor. Took them over 4 hours, mostly getting demon bolt(s) out.

The rest of my exhaust - mid pipe and mufflers - is stock and the sound is great! Much deeper tone, no drone or rasp at hwy speed this morning. Love it.

My question is should I reset ECU to relearn? I don't have a CEL but my throttle response seems a bit different today...

there shouldn't be a need to. I usually like to do it when i do intake modification, but it doesn't hurt to do a reset. just annoying to have to redo the radio stations and the windows.

Thanks for the input! No real intake work except for drop-in K&N's

Hello,

Could you talk more about why you chose the Kinetix HFCs and a Dynamic performance Y-pipe combo? I have a 2013 G37X Sedan and my Y-Pipe is rusted through and the mechanic said that my cats will probably need to be replaced in a few years too.

I have to get emissions test every 2 years. Luckily, I just passed emissions last week so this is something that is not urgent but I do want to at last get the Y-Pipe replaced as there is hole and I can sometimes smell the fumes while driving which I'm sure is not healthy/safe.

Where did you order the Y-Pipe from and did it perfectly fit with existing exhaust?

Thanks!

I think price was the main consideration, and of course I scoured all the reviews I could find on the HFCs - I didn't want to throw a CEL with aftermarket cats. I did read plenty of good reviews on the Kinetix, and they are great. I live in Alexandria, right down the road from you BTW....got my emissions done the week before - passed, but a hole in y-pipe was evident, and as I mentioned the passenger side cat was rattling. The y pipe mated fine with cats and stock resonator. My mechanic is Van Dorn Auto, they are really reasonable and have worked on both of my g37's. Note that you gotta put the O2 sensor on the passenger side HFC prior to install, the clearance is tight.

Here is the link to the site with y-pipe. https://www.godpt.com/
