Input Shaft Bearing revised part?
Input Shaft Bearing revised part?
I’ve had my G37S coupe 6MT for about 9 months now and I think my throw out bearing is on its way out, I’ve heard it a few times on start up. I’m pretty sure the car is on its original clutch which is surprising at 105K miles. I’m more concerned about the input shaft bearing, it makes a very loud whirring sound that gets louder with the engine rpms, happens in all gears except for 5th because I believe 5th is a 1:1 ratio between the engine and bearing. I really would like to replace it when I’m getting the clutch done but I can’t find a revised part number anywhere. Should I just get the OEM Infiniti one again? I’m worried it’ll start whirring again. The sound is damn loud, I have an axle back and I feel like half the sound of the car is because of the trans. Thanks for reading!
Can you post a video of the sound?
If you car squeaks on start up, that is a dry one way clutch in your starter.
I suspect your input shaft and throw out bearing are fine, as they are generally very durable.
105K+ for a clutch on the G37 is not unusual. Mine has 109K with 30+ passes down the drag strip and multiple track days and has ZERO slip with strong engagement.
BUT, I have noticed more of a rattle from the dual mass flywheel only during light load.
