FIX for P0524 and P0021 or P0011 codes

I've been chasing these codes down for 3+ years. Thought it was the "galley gasket.". Fortunately, Nissan talked me out of changing that. They told me if it was the Galley Gasket, I would be seeing both the P0021 and P0011 codes. Never had the P0011 code. .The codes were always intermittent. I'd get them, clear them and sometimes, they didn't come back for weeks. Last week, I cleared the P0021 and P0524 code and it reappeared after driving just a few miles. Decided to order the right and left VVT solenoid from RockAuto. No problem changing out the right solenoid, but the left one which drops the P0021 code broke off in my hand while I removed it.. I tried to get the remaining parts out of the housing, but it was stuck solid. Couldn't even turn it with an "easy out." Brought the car to Nissan to remove the parts and replace with the RA part. They removed the camshaft cover and got the solenoid out. Replaced it with the aftermarket part and the P0021 code was again popping up. The right side solenoid worked fine, but when they checked it out on a multi meter, they found that it was showing 6.9 ohms. It is supposed to read between 7.7 and 7.8 ohms. They replaced it with an OEM solenoid and everything is fine. No more codes, all is well in G land!

Hope this helps out some out there with reappearing P0524 and P0021 or P0011 codes. Just remember to remove them before they get stuck in the housing and replace them OEM PARTS.

The repair worked fine. I verified it by driving over 800 miles over the weekend. 150 miles on curvy back roads and v-tech-ing the engine most of the time in the 6000 to 7000 RPM range. No codes, no hesitation, engine runs like a champ!

Wait a minute.... did you put in a Honda engine???
You can't "v-tech" a VVEL engine

You got me! I actually joined a group of Honda S2000's in Eastern Ohio over the weekend. I have an S, but I've been driving the G to the events that are farther from my home. Two of the people following me said that they really liked the exhaust note. It's all stock with the exception of FI HFR-Cats.
