G37x, delayed transmission torque when accelerating from stop

Good day everyone. I have a 2009 G37x with auto trans. Been a great vehicle but just within the past 3,000 or so miles I've randomly had this issue. About 1 out of 10 to 15 stops this happens. The scenario is this;
- driving along you come to a stop (stop sign or light)
- you prepare to accelerate and remove your foot from the brake; the vehicle begins to move slightly as it always has when initially releasing the brake
- you press the gas pedal; the engine RPMs climb but the vehicle does not accelerate, it's still just slightly moving from the idle torque on the transmission.
- suddenly the transmission kicks in. You either slowly accelerate or you're launched with the tires barking depending on how far you've pressed the pedal. This delayed reaction has been anywhere from 1 to about 3 seconds.

Once moving, there are no performance issues. Acceleration and shifts are normal.

No codes are set and I've taken it to an Infiniti and Nissan dealership. They've both told me I'd need wait until this issue could be recreated.

I've also noticed the following more subtle issue that might be related which also happens randomly.
- When you come to a stop sometimes. you can feel there is more torque at the wheels than typical while motionless in Drive. For example, after a few seconds at a stop you can suddenly feel the car settle as if you've been power braking slightly. The engine RPM always seem normal though.

All this makes me feel like the transmission torque converter is working correctly. it appears as though the engine is working correctly. It appears the transmission pump is working correctly. Makes me feel like there's something mechanical getting stuck when no gas is applied. I really don't want to get involved in an accident or wait until the transmission is broken.

Thanks much for your help.

Quite a few members have reported this phenomenon, search this forum to read the discussion on the topic. It's never happened to me, so I don't pay attention to the threads.

Update: Finally decided this issue was probably caused by a solenoid valve. Drained the transmission fluid getting ready to replace those and not much fluid was drained. The amount of fluid was just under 3 quarts. It took almost 5 quarts to fill the transmission back up. The car has been working fine since; at least so far.

The big problem, the local Nissan dealership changed the transmission fluid shortly before the problem started and I took it back to them for diagnosis.

I have the exact same issue. You should be able to tell if it has been fixed, at least for the time being. Any input on this will be much appreciated!

@DaveR your issue could have easily been the lower that normal fluid in the transmission.
@LPV36 check the fluid level in your transmission and report back your findings, please.

This thread should provide the instructions on how to make sure your transmission fluid level is correct....https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...rop-clean.html

Definitely low transmission fluid level. A couple of months a two thousand miles later and the transmission shifts and starts correctly. As they say, check the fluid first and, unfortunately, don't trust the professionals to 'do it right'.

This is something that I only notice under one condition: hard braking.

If I’ve just had to come to a stop very quickly, I’ve noticed that my transmission pops out of gear (7at AWD). If I let off the brake, car does not accelerate. Give it light throttle and it won’t accelerate until a few moments later. And it’s usually a decent launch.

I know these cars downshift to aid in slowing down, but completely going to neutral seems odd. I’ve had this happen both in manual and automatic mode. Other than when I slam on the brakes, the transmission (almost) never misses a beat!
