Oil Pressure Questions
Oil Pressure Questions
So I put a gauge in to monitor for the dreaded galley gasket failure. I have some questions about operating PSI / temp / rpm. So I know it's >14psi at 175 idle and >45psi at 175 and 2k rpm. I hit 10psi today while stopped at a traffic light. I have a 7AT and was in gear, idle in gear is slightly lower than neutral or park. I kicked it in park and it went up to 14psi. The oil temp was 220 at the time. So is 10psi acceptable since it was in gear idling at like 650 instead of 900rpm (what I thought it was supposed to be checked at for idle) and is it acceptable since the oil temp was 220 and not 175? Or should I take this thing in to the dealer and demand a new galley gasket under my warranty? 84,300 miles, extended warranty goes up in June.
I had it in the shop a few weeks ago and had them check the pressure before I put a gauge in it, they gave me no documentation on what the results were other than they were "fine". I don't entirely trust them as they told me my belt was fraying and dry rotted (it was perfect when I took it off to replace it myself) and tried to charge me $380 to replace it as well as replace the rear brake pads I had put on a month before I took it in.

Stellar! Thank you! When you say few, is it not that common of an issue? I feel like I keep reading about the gasket failure all over the place.
