2011 G37 overheating issue

Hey guys I’m fairly new to the G world, I have been driving a 2011 g37 sedan auto for several months . Last night I took my first road trip in it ( 300 miles ) and it drove amazing however today driving around the city it’s over heating at stops ONLY, once I start moving it drops fast , the fans are working and coolant is at max, anyone have a idea what it can be ? Thermostat ? Any help is appreciated as I must drive back tomorrow and need to fix it today . Thanks guys/galls

Where is the needle when it's at max, and how many miles on your car?

Use an obd scan tool to view actual temperature as measured by the temp sensor. Assuming that too indicates a warm/hot condition, I'd wager to say it's possible the thermostat isn't opening fully.

Where you at, ambient outside temp?

Miami , around 90 degrees , I been looking at other post and mostly it’s fan/thermostat issue, I head back home tomorrow (300) miles from Miami and idk what to do as most repair shops are closed or can’t look at it till Monday

Does keeping the AC on help any? In most cars it keeps the fan running.

Start with a coolant flush and a thermostat. I had several overheating issues I live in AZ with my car especially in the summer stop and go traffic. Most of the time it was due to air in the system. I just started overheating like two weeks ago again went ahead and did a full coolant flush and bought a mishimoto racing thermostat and also added water wetter and helped a lot. He mishimoto thermostat will open up lower temp than the oem one. I got a shop to do it because these cars are hard to bleed so make sure all the air is out the system

I had mine creep up in the higher temp range on the dash gauge, this was in stopped traffic in Vegas a couple summers ago when it was over 115 degrees outside. I did a complete coolant flush and it's been fine since. I only use the Lisle no spill funnel kit and followed the DIY link on site, pretty easy w/ that kit and the DIY info.

The Ac on doesn’t help a bit , yesterday I left it on about a hour and the fan works perfect and didn’t overheat , however night temp compared to peak Miami sun temperature can’t be compared, the radiator has oem blue antifreeze and it’s at level, I will change the thermostat however Infiniti isn’t open today so I have no idea what antifreeze I’m going to use and auto parts places don’t have oem, this is a night mare lol

If you do a complete flush you can use the universal coolant, available at all auto part stores.
