are Superchargers better for our cars? more common?

so im dabbling into the idea of maybe getting some performance upgrades but at the same time dont want to destroy my cars reliability.
from what i see on the forum, the superchargers( stillen is the only one i know of, if you know another please let me know) are the most common.
but ive also seen the old GTM(tt), Boosted performance(single turbo and Fast intentions (twin turbo)turbo kits.
also have heard turbos are more reliable, so what exactly is better for horsepower increase but also reliability?

So many variables to this answer...

It depends:. What are your goals? Transmission? Budget? What's your compression test show? Do you have a tuning solution nearby?

Throwing aftermarket FI to a NA motor is not an exact science and there's a lot of what ifs...From my own research, have a reliable alternate means of transportation, don't expect to go cheap on parts, be prepared for a minimum of $10k before touching the transmission, differential, etc., and most importantly - pick the right tuner.

A supercharger kit is generally an easier install, so there's that. My brain finds something particularly cool about making power by harnessing energy that would otherwise go to waste, so I always lean towards turbos.

But yeah, the questions RMB5190 posed need to be answered before you should consider further.

There are many factors that this isn't a simple question. RMB brings up good points about goals.

1. If all you want is another 100whp, the cheapest way is to SC. As long as you don't increase power, your stock transmission is most likely fine up until 450whp. As long as you stay around 400whp you're pretty much in reliable territory. Only supporting mod I'd say you still do is oil cooler.

2. If you want over 500whp, you're more likely to get a turbo or TT setup. Recently topgunz did come out with his own kit (built on stillens kit) which makes something like 550whp. This is actually a very viable option. In this territory, you'll want to rebuild your transmission to handle the power.

Cost can range anywhere from $10-30K depending on a lot of factors.
