It sounds fine to me man. I had to play the video 3 times to even get a hint of what you are referencing. The VVEL is a loud SOB and I think that's what you're hearing.

you might want to switch over to ester oil if you hear the VVEL ticking.
I use to run Redline oil.

Agreeing with what RMB has said, I've heard that noise at times since owning the car the VVEL is loud. And here I am 30k miles later still unbothered by it.

Doesn't sound abnormal to me. If it drives well, I wouldn't worry too much about it. VQ engine is pretty solid and known to live past 200K.

Does your family typically buy smaller engine cars?

Also, is this cold start? Cold start typically idles higher and makes more noise.

Yep, I drive highway everyday. After my 40 min drive or spirited driving itll be louder, especially on hot days. Again, no need for alarm

If you guys had a truck before, I would imagine the truck engine to be louder. I was just asking to see if you have anything to make comparison to.

Is it very cold/hot where you are?

Honestly, either way I'm not too worried. Get the car checked out if it will give you peace of mind.

If Infiniti dealership wants to charge you money for inspection, I wouldn't do it. I would only go to them if you have no other solid alternatives in your area.

Most importantly, do you have carmax warranty? If so, you're 100% free and clear. They pay out way easier than manufacturer warranty.

I would look up a reputable Z/G37 mechanic in your local area and have them inspect if you're paying. Probably cost like $50.

Your car is most likely fine.

lmao dude... you have 0 reason to pay infiniti to inspect your vehicle BTW. So please remember to not spend any money. You already bought maxcare. Use that for EVERYTHING. Get your money's worth. At this point, I WANT you to blow your engine so they'll give you a new one.

These cars are solid enough to not even need the warranty. At least I didn't get an extended. My IPL is over 80K now and running strong.

Just curious, how much was maxcare?

I dont remember really. I think around 2k. The car itself was 16 but with tax and maxcare came out to 19.5k total
