Oil leaking from steering linkage?

It looks like oil is leaking from some steering component. Can someone help me identify what is happening here? It doesn't seem normal to me.

normal seepage. i have seen seepage like that on all makes and models from japanese to german vehicles. sometimes its just the assembly lubricant used during manufacturing that has begun to melt away. it just looks worse than what it is as a result of dirt accumulating on it. you can always clean it off real good with brake cleaner.

Thanks for the response. Good to know.

I assume that this is power steering fluid, right? I will keep an eye on the reservoir levels just in case(looks good now). Haven't had any issues with the steering, just noticed the seepage when taking a look under the car.

If anyone has had to replace the steering rack, what symptoms did you experience?

Just so we are clear, no leakage from a steering rack is "normal." Its a sealed system and should not leak. That said, your leak looks to be very minor and I would just continue to monitor the leak and fluid levels. As consumption of fluid increases, I would consider replacing the rack.

There's a TSB out for this.

As crookncastle said, if it's yellow, it's assembly lube. If it's red, it's PS fluid, and you have a leaky rack.
