2011' G37s Clutch Issue

Hello all
I've been having an issue with my clutch pedal for quite a while now.
I bought the car used with 35k and it currently has 60k. The problem started when i would drive the car on freeway for a long amount of time, or when i was driving rather spirited. After driving a few hours, the clutch would lose pressure without any evidence of losing fluid. When driving around town, everything would be ok. After doing some research i ended up having a heavy duty Slave installed along with a new OEM master...Changed the fluid to Dot4 and things were better for a few weeks.

After having those parts replaced, i no longer have issues on long drives.. but every once in a while the clutch will stay partially depressed, causing me to have to pick it up with my toe and pump it a few times in order to get it back to normal. It is pretty difficult to rev match or drive the car smoothly with ease. Seems to have more of an issue when its hot outside. I've owned nothing but manual transmission cars and for whatever reason the pedal feels odd to me.

The fluid is still at the same level, there aren't any leaks that i can see on the ground..i have no idea what to check next... I've waited a while til i posted a thread about it, but now i don't know where to turn without replacing the entire clutch assembly...

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT*
I forgot to mention that I've bled the fluid myself twice and it does seem to help for a short period of time; I even took it back to the shop that installed the parts and had them bleed it as well...It seems to help for a week or so until the clutch goes back to feeling "funny"

sounds like you made a good effort with the HD CSC and a new OEM MC. that, along with properly bled fresh fluid, should have done the trick. assuming your pressure plate is fine, then you should have done the right thing.

the only thing i can think is possibly try re-bleeding the fluid to ensure no air is trapped? that is certainly the first step i'd try, and the cheapest. i would think it a long shot that the new HD slave or MC have failed.

maybe u didnt bleed it good. these cars are tricky to bleed , the pedel pressing doesnt work well u have to gravity bleed till all air is out. thats the only way i could do it. gravity bleed then one time do the pedal press and open and release valve very quickly

^^this. Gravity bleeding was the only way for me to get the air out of my system as well.

Also, from the symptoms you've described, since you're not losing fluid, it sounds to me like a faulty MC. I had a similar incident back in 2015 where if the car sits for a couple hours, I would lose pressure on the pedal but after a couple pumps, pressure came back. I purchased both the HD CSC as well as a new MC but opted to install the MC only since it was less invasive/expensive. Pedal has been good ever since the swap and I gravity bleed it every couple months to remove the contaminants that build up in the system as a maintenance item.

Hopefully this helps...good luck and keep us posted.

Do you see any dirt in the reservoir? If you have roadside assistance and can take the chance of the pedal failing once and for all, you can continue to just flush the fluid as temporary fixes. Otherwise I think replacing the MC would be the more permanent solution

try power bleeding and using GTR fluid.
Power bleeding always worked better for me than regular way. Just make sure someone is keeping a eye out for the levels in the reservoir.

I recall reading (in the fsm?) not to use a power bleeder on the clutch.

I've read that and did at least 50 power bleeds in the 8.5 years I've owned my G so yea......

FYI 140k miles and I was still on the original CSC.

any guesses as to why fsm says not to use power bleeder? maybe too much pressure?

I have had the exact same problem. It only comes up on long drives (2+ hours). My car is at 50k miles, all liquids look to be ok, no idea what the problem is. I havent done any work to it recently either.
