G37X 3rd-4th/4th-5th Upshift Jump In RPM's
G37X 3rd-4th/4th-5th Upshift Jump In RPM's
Hello all. I've recently run into a problem with my 2011 G37X sedan. It has 120k miles. When driving, hot and cold, when shifting from (I think 3rd to 4th, might be 4th to 5th. Don't remember as I'm not currently driving it) it jumps massively in RPM's.
I have seen the TSB's posted for an issue similar to this, but the TSB only states a 200-250 RPM jump when in my case, it's around a 1k RPM jump. I decided to bring it to the dealership anyways with print outs of the TSB's to see if it'd fix anything. Apparently it did nothing, according to them. So that's out of the picture. Then the dealership says it could need a new trans (figures). Then after all is said and done and I go to pick up the car as is, the service director says "if it were my car, I'd do a trans flush before I do anything". With the mileage, that seems to be the right thing to do especially before getting into something major like a trans, but what I want to know is could a simple a trans flush fix something like this? The dealer quoted me at $260 for the drain/flush/fill/etc. which I would much rather pay to get OEM fluids and whatnot. But again, is it worth it? Could it solve the problem?
Thanks in advance!

I agree with the dealer, start with a trans flush.
