Replacing transmission at 110k

So I got my 08 coupe at 88k. And it was fine. Then alittle after 5th gear would grind when I would shift fast. That was fine. Now all my fears grind when putting it into gear.. It drives. Just when I put the gesr in, it will grind. So my syncros are destroyed. I don't beat on it every day but I have raved and do spirited driving every now and then. But has anyone had any trouble replacing there's? How much you buy one for? Any tips?

Is rebuilding your transmission not an option? Manual transmission replacement isn't particularly difficult. Are you DIY'ing or having a shop do it?

That's really weird, there are guys with these trans running 800hp+ in 2JZ cars without a problem. I bought one for $200 on Craigslist. I turned around and sold it for $750.. The swap is fairly simple with basic tools and some grunting.

People told me rebuilding isn't worth it with this transmission. I can't find a rebuild kit or anything like that. I can get a used tranny for 800 or so. And my mechanic could do it for 300.

I've had my transmission out several times replacing slave cylinders ( 3 to he exact...) and master cylinder and clutch replacements. So getting a used one and getting that put in shouldn't be a problem.. I just hate that its grinning and only has 110k miles. But idk how it was driven before I got it at 88k miles

I have no doubt they were just rough on it or had a worn slave for too long and tore it up.

Yeah they could have just beaten on it and me beating on it doesn't make it better. And my transmission has been out 6 times with 3 different slaves. The third being my current one which is the heavy duty z1 slave cylinder. Because I have a aftermarket clutch and the pressure plate would break the slaves. And I've replaced the master twice. First time it broke 6 days after I bought it and I replaced it again because I put a new kit in my car and it weakened it apparently. So I've been through with this car already so it won't be the first. So I'll just buy a used tranny and just swap the clutches out and call it a day.

Sounds like a plan, are you gonna take apart this one to see what's up at all?

I mean with the way it grinds I'm almost certain it's the syncros so I guess there would be no point. Unless it's easy to take it apart? Like for my mechanic to do out of curiosity

My synchro gave out and now my transmission stuck in 5th gear. Everyone i spoke to has replaced and not repaired. hence what i did... bought an used one for 800 and will be installed tomorrow. If a shop has an used transmission, you can swap parts. But it'll be really hard to find a rebuild kit or transmission parts for the vq37vhr transmission. In your case, you was to change your transmission oil and you may have been fine... gonna use valvoline gear oil (75w-90) in mines for now til i get some motul/redline/amsoil gear oil

I hope I don't get stuck in a gear. My transmission oil was changed 10k miles or so ago. So I feel like it can't be that. And I bought oem Nissan oil. Was your gears grinding every shift?
