P0021 & p0524

I finally got the dreaded combo of the P0021 & P0524. I know there are many threads already with this issue (which is a problem by itself) but I am being told something different then what I see others with the same codes. I took it to Infiniti and they pulled the codes and did an oil pressure test. Then they called me and said after those tests the called a tech hotline for Infiniti where they speak with "engineers" and they came back with it's an internal engine problem and since they don't rebuild engines the only option is to replace the engine?!?!? There was no mention of the famous gasket problem nor could they tell me what was actually wrong other then it is an internal engine issue. So they quoted me $7000 (used, which will probably have the same issue) or 12000 for a new engine. I am currently waiting to hear back from a supervisor at consumer affairs as they stated since it out of warranty they cannot offer any financial assistance. I told them the fact that you could call a helpline and those engineers stated this combination has occurred enough times before that without looking any further into it they are jumping straight to an engine swap tells me there is a flaw in their design and your just not willing to stand by your product. I am at loss in n what to do so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also I made a new thread because I didn't see anyone else who was told the entire engine needed to be swapped out. I have a 2009 G37xs

Good luck with that. Please post how your experience with Infiniti Consumer Affairs works out.

You can put a new engine it it. You can replace the rear timing cover.

The majority of information pertaining to this is in a sticky by Betty in the coupe forum. You could just replace the timing cover, but you don't really know if running the engine in that state has caused damage. Depends on what route you want to go if you want to purchase a low mileage used engine, or buy a block from IPP.
